Photographer's Note

After seeing this picture on the "Critiques-received" list by Chris Jules today, realized a "cleaning-job" would be useful technique to do, so I did a re-post with a bit better color balance and less "noise".
Faro-di-Genova, the old light-tower dominating the port skyline at 76m high. Built between 1128 till 1161 and at that ancient era it was wood-fire burning-light, pieces of dry wood were daily carried up the many stairs�

non pensavo che avessi avuito modo anche di visitare Genova e il suo porto.
Nella foto � ben evidente il simbolo della citt�, la lanterna, inserito nel tessuto marittimo che anima la citt� a cavallo tra elementi del passato e oggetti dell'era moderna.
Ottima la nitidezza, tenuto conto della distanza di ripresa e gradevoli i colori.

"noise" o rumore sono in tutte le foto ....dov manca manca i contrasto.
Il POV � fodamentale ed il BG. Genova , la lanterna ed lo scalo grandi navi e traghetti ro-ro la rendono prima davanti a Civittavecchia per imponenza dela stazione marittima nuova.
La vecchia stazione marittima � spettacolare e "vintage" un cosiglio d'amico.

Fist I see the photo, everything seems okay, but the light is not enough. So it is normal to have a little bit distortion in this case. Perfect framing and POV you have made. TFS, GREETINGS, Salih

Hello Ike,

I like both versions, it give a different mood. the older version is more true to it's original atmosphere, where this one give a much more clear view with less haziness. Love the warm color and tone of the light.

Hello Ike,
your new processing is effective and interesting, the colours are brighter and the contrasts enhanced. This made the view more pleasant and brought out the details very well. The scenery is rich and intriguing, there's much to explore and I also like that there's water both in the foreground and in the background. The distance to the horizon seems vast. Hi Chris,

The distance between the ship and the horizon is giving depth to the composition. The point of view is showing the details of the ship and of the lighttower. The good luminosity is bringing out the colors. Have a nice dya.

I like your comment to my photo, you are right, "half picture wasted" but I did not have time to wait to make the moon full (ha, ha,...).
I like your photo arrangement with excellent port view. The lighthouse is very good focal point in the superb photo.

I didn't see the 1st posting. This one is a feast for the eye with all thhe fine details. A modern busy port in a city with proud maritime traditions. The size and proportions are revealed nicely. I like the soft hazy light. It looks like teh time close to sunset. Good job, Ike. Just my taste.

lovely port scene. I like ports I think they are so photogenic with the cranes and so much industrial shapes and boats. Plus here of course the main point of interest if the unique type of lighthouse overseeing the port.

I did not see the original posting so I cannot comment, but I find this one very appealing and perfectly presented. I like the composition, which has a pleasing balance to it. The pastel pink tones of the sky contrast very well with the more definitive tones offered by the dockyard.

The picture is better than August 2012 than we got to much fog.
You did a fantastic job with the exposure.
Taken with high quality and sharpness.
Also a lovely panorama view in background.

A fantastic view, with the last light of the day, they give a great charm to this corner of the harbor, which include large ships and the silhouette of the lighthouse.
Very nice colorful, giving more appealing image.

Hello Ike

This one has much better light contrasts and is less 'muddy' than the other. Good sharpness and framing with superb color contrasts between the magenta sky and the blue water and shadows on the fg passenger liners. Nice reflections and the lighthouse with scaffolding makes a fine focal point. Tfs!
