Photographer's Note
Rock detail of the interior of the central crater of Vesuvius.
I was attracted by the different morphology of this rock, as well as ... the different colors.
Probably the upper part of yellow color is due to residues of sulfur.

Complimenti e grazie!
Tanti saluti e buon fine settimana,
Ourania

Ciao Francesco,
I believe you are right, that is sulfur in one of the strata. Any idea of that brilliant red? In 2005 I also ascended to the crater, but the noxious sulfur fumes and smoke kept gave me pause. I did not descend into the crater, as you did. This makes a lovely abstract work of art, except that it is so sharp. It reminds me of an areal shot over a parched mountainous region.
Have a good weekend,
Bulent

Ciao Francesco!
When I was in Napoli, back in 1999, I tried to reach that crater, but unfortunately I didn't! When I arrived at the bus stop the bus had just left and I decided to walk all the way up! Again, when I arrived there (and I truly enjoyed all the walking I did), they had already closed the visit to the crater! Maybe next time!
Therefore, I truly enjoy seeing such neat and interesting close details of that place!
Great image!
TFS - congrats,
Cheers,

Ciao Cicc
Il mio volcano é molto bello, vero? Meno male che lui ancora dorme. Stupendi i colori e dettagli.
Complimenti
Lisa
