Photographer's Note

Good Morning Everyone,

I have moved from Herculaneum to Pompeii, for those who were curious whether I had visited both places.

One of the first buildings that you encounter, when entering the site at Pompeii are the remains of the theatre. This is not an amphitheatre where sporting activities took place, this is a theatre for the performing of plays or poetry. It is in good condition.

Whilst we were there, lots of tour groups arrived. Seemingly the strong off-shore winds had caused the cancellation of boats to Capri so they had opted for Pompeii instead!

I waited patiently to get this shot of a single person climbing the steps This guy appeared to be counting as he ascended.
My workshop will give a different angle.

Like Herculaneum, Pompeii was destroyed by the eruption of Vesuvius in 79AD. Pompeii has proved a much easier excavation than Herculaneum, which is why it is so much better known.

I came here in 2007, since when Pompeii has been much improved in the way of signage and protection of the more vulnerable exhibits but it is also very much more popular.

Enjoy your day, Bev :-)
