Photographer's Note

Good Morning Everyone,

Roman artistic talent can be easily appreciated in Pompeii and Herculaneum. It isn't necessarily interpreted, it is there for you you to observe and enjoy. You may also ponder on the skill of the artists, how they obtained the materials for their crafts and what were the stories or beliefs that inspired them.

My main photograph shows a mosaic floor. It is a craft that we see exhibited in many other Roman buildings, right across their Empire.

Sensibly, this floor is protected from visitors walking over it but we can see its quality. I rather liked being able to photograph the visitors, too, who appeared like a small audience.

I will add further examples of their art as workshops here and here .
You may prefer one of those; art is so subjective.

Have a great day, Bev :-)
