Hello Denis,
The sun-painted yellow plaster, the deep dark shadows, a dark staircase that goes to a mysterious destination and a beautiful blue sky; this is all that is needed for this beautiful composition.

Bonjour Denis,
The play of light and shadow around this narrow staircase is excellent and you capture it so well with perfect exposure. The sunlit parts have got a very nice and pleasantly warm hue, which makes the contrast with the shades even starker. Very well done.

Hello Denis,

In answer to your question, I did not visit Amalfi, this time but opted to explore Herculaneum instead. I did, however, visit Amalfi ten years ago and, like you, found myself exploring very steep streets and entering archways under buildings.
It was beautiful, though.
Your photograph perfectly captures the atmosphere of these narrow passageways, with excellent details of the rough, textured walls, displaying exciting contrasts of sunlight and shadows.
