Castello di Stroncone � Stroncone (TR)

Stroncone is a town of 5,007 inhabitants in the province of Terni.
The site on which the town of Stroncone stands could be identified with that of the ancient Trebula Suffena, but there is no definite information to confirm this hypothesis.
It is probable, however, that the settlement arose during the early Middle Ages, perhaps built by populations who previously lived in the valley floor, which became insecure, and who saw in the new site, located on the high ground, a more easily defensible refuge.
It probably arose from a small defensive element, a watchtower placed to guard some important road axes for that time.
Stroncone was, in fact, in a border area between the Lombard Duchy of Spoleto and the territories under the control of the Byzantines.

Hello Silvio,
Very atmospheric shot with the fog at just a few metres from you.
Even the person under the second passage is barely visible.
The red letterbox, both flags and the yellow nameplate above the door can break through the fog with their colours.
I've the impression it must have been pretty cold there.

Hello Silvio,
The old buildings and the composition remind us of quite many earlier photos, but the mist makes a difference. It creates a very attractive atmosphere, and we have to look carefully to discover the details almost hidden in the haze. It's a beautiful street and a very nice photo.

Hello Silvio,
The misty impression of these passages in the alleys of Stroncone reminds me in terms of atmosphere of the films from the heyday of Italian movie of, for example, Fellini, Bertolucci and Antonioni.

Ciao Caro Silvio,

This is a photograph which captures not only the fine textural details of the old walls but also a mysterious atmosphere. Photographing in misty conditions is so atmospheric when it is done well.
I love the composition, too, the awaiting archway, with its heraldic shield, is quite irresistible, guiding us into this spooky courtyard and onto another archway.

Silvio, the coat of arms probably signals� the castle entrance. The mist creates a mysterious atmosphere. Fascinating place to explore. Fine colors, good sharpness, interesting photo note, regards.

Hi Silvio,
Foggy weather creates strange ambience on the alleys of this old town. We can't see far, but if the view was more open background would disappear completely. That coat of arms is special, and is a definite sign of the long history of this place.

How the mist changes everything! I'm sure I now recognise this same doorway - but you showed it to us from the other side because I recognise that lamp.

The mist adds a beautiful softness and also adds depth as we find it very difficult to define any detail beyond the far archway.

This is a perfectly composed photograph with the most delightful soft light and colours, perfect exposure and outstanding technical quality.
