Photographer's Note
Caves of San Fortunato - Montefalco (PG)
The so-called Caves of San Fortunato are preserved in the wood of the convent of San Fortunato,
They are compartments dug out of a bank of breccia and clay.
Their origin is probably very ancient and certainly mysterious. Unfortunately, the documentation is late and scarce.
It was probably originally a pagan mithraeum, later used as an oratory in the early Christian era.

Hello Silvio,
A fascinating look inside the curious cave used as a chapel. The incredible number of ancient temples in this part of Italy never stops to amaze me, and you are working hard to make a complete collection, or so it seems.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Silvio,
La statue de la Vierge Marie attire le regard. La prise de vue permet de voir les détails de la grotte San Fortunato. La lumière environnante fait ressortir les couleurs. Bonne journée.

Hello Silvio,
The photo of this cave is very well composed and especially well balanced between the lit and shaded parts. Also the contrast between the smooth and more textured areas is attractive here.

Hi Silvio
Nice overall view of the ancient religious cave despite the challenge of shooting into low light with beautiful speck of vivid colours along with fine detail. The subtle textural detail is a bonus point under this circumstances.
