Photographer's Note

Three more pictures today that complete my brief visit back to Florence from my archives.

I was captivated by the beautiful Cathedral of Santa del Fiore, and the unique dome built by Brunellschi. A landmark of Florence with its red tiled dome, coloured marble facade and elegant Giotto tower.

Hello Jean,
Looking at all photos back and forth several times I decided that this one is my favourite. I like its tight composition and nice balance and close focus on the essential parts of the walls. The alternative second WS gives us a similar view from the other side and is especially interesting for showing the dense crowd of tourists. The other WS shows, in my opinion, a bit too much empty wall in the foreground. But all photos are equally well exposed and sharp.

You beautifully encapsulated in a single photo the best of Santa del Fiore Cathedral for greatest architectural details of the typical Italian Gothic building.
The outbuildings of the left-hand side, appearing so close of the Duomo enhance the impression of really being in downtown Firenze.

Hi Jean,
Beautiful architecture although the light didn't spoil you. You have well selected an interesting composition with variety of design. The only missing element for me is the sunshine. What sometimes annoys me when I am in travel that the sky seems blue but the clouds still manage to cover the sun.

But you already know that I am very weather sensitive :)

All three photos are great, in the panoramic one I would just consider correcting the perspective, but I know some people prefer it natural.

Hello Jean,
Your main photo and the one in WS2 are beautiful architecture shots.
Both have a remarkable tight composition.
I also like your first WS but I wonder if there was a reason not to stand closer to the wall in front. Perhaps there was something immediately behind the wall (or in the depths) that you would rather not have in the picture.

A sensational composition with this close-up, which offers us wonderful detail on the exterior of the cathedral and its tower, marvelous marbles forming precious geometric drawings, sculptures and windows, an entire open-air museum.
The two compositions of the WS are splendid.
Very nice color, in some tones, very attractive.
