Church of San Michele arcangelo - Eggi - Spoleto

The church, already dedicated, like others, to Sant扐ngelo, is located next to the entrance to the walled village, probably predating the construction of the fortifications. In fact, the primitive building should have been built in the 12th century, as the ashlars masonry still partially visible on the left of the portal would indicate.
In the fifteenth century the church underwent a new renovation and expansion, reliably varying the orientation from the original. It was completely frescoed, especially in the first half of the century, by local painters including the so-called "Maestro di Eggi", very industrious in the Spoleto area and in the Nera Valley, who left his most significant works here.
