Vasanello Castle

The thirteenth-century castle stands at the entrance to the ancient village of Vasanello; Orso Orsini in 1285 had the first tower built to defend the territory. He had it for only four years, then passed to other families. In the second half of the fifteenth century it returned to the Orsini family who transformed it into a noble residence, frescoing the coffered ceilings and friezes with heraldic motifs that celebrated their marriages with important families. It passed to the Delle Rovere, the Colonna, the Barberini and for a century to the current owners Misciattelli.

Hello Silvio,

You have been able to show us close-up details of the towers and reveal just how strong and formidable they appear.
The overhang, at the top, used for defence, creates a very decorative, scalloped effect.
It was a lovely day and though the castle is not in the sunlight, it still reveals fine, sharp details.

Good close-up photo of this well maintained castle. Your photo makes it look quite big, but it is probably smaller than it appears. Good sharpness and colour.

It's a very impressive castle, and thanks to being in private hands all through its history it seems to be in good condition. Do the Misciattelli actually live here? I wouldn't like to do that. Despite the entire fa鏰de being in the shade it's a very clear and well exposed photo which shows us all the fine details.
