Clarignano Castle - Giano dell'UmbriarnrnrnIt is located on a hill at 355 meters above sea level, called La Torre by the IGM, facing the castle of Morcicchia, located about five hundred meters to the north. Sansi states that, in 1077, Clarignano was among the allied castles of Spoleto, but the news is of dubious reliability.rnClarignano is named in a donation of 1078.rnAt the end of the twelfth century it was owned by the Clarignano nobles who paid the fodro to the Church: Castrum Clarignanum quod est nobilium dominorum; solvunt homines pro fodro VI libras et pro adjutorio Nativitatis nn libras et pro adjutorio Pasce XL solidos et nichil aliud.rnThe mighty tower and faint traces of underground wall structures and the surrounding wall remain.

Ciao Caro Silvio,

This is a closer view of a tower which posted once before. When the castle was built, there would not be trees surrounding it, but you cannot avoid them now1

It's a very well composed photograph, the castle tower strongly placed off-centre, with the trees and bushes that surround it showing prickly textures and a variety of winter hues.

Well framed and composed using the rule of thirds. Excellent sharpness and lighting. The tower at left is well placed on the 1/ axis too. Tfs!

Hello Silvio,
The tower is robust and simple but it looks quite impressive as it rises over the winter coloured trees. The light is fine and the photo has a superb clarity and is well balanced.

The square tower rises up so nicely from the woods on top of the hill. I like the sunlight here, which rendered the colours of the trees and towers very good and natural.

There is something sad in this sight with the lone tower surrounded by a dense forest. It feels like it could be the tower where the princess was kept, Rapunzel from Brother Grimm's story.

The tower rises from amongst the trees and obviously overlooks some spectacular scenery. The sunlight has highlighted all the subtle colours and textures.

Hello Silvio,
In this forested area the tower of the castle rises over the trees.
So even from afar you can still find the castle in this forest.
Remarkable that also in February some trees have still a lot of leaves.
