Church of Santa Maria in Vittorino - San Vittorino - Cittaducale (RI)

The ruined church of Santa Maria in Vittorino, better known as the church of San Vittorino, is located near the Terme di Cotilia, in the municipality of Cittaducale in the province of Rieti. It is also known as "the submerged church", "the church in the water" or "the sinking church".
In fact, a spring has gushed inside it (SEE THE WS)
It is located inside the Piana di San Vittorino (from which it takes the name of Santa Maria in Vittorino): an area where there are many mineralized springs and karst phenomena such as sinkholes (sudden subsidence of the ground) are frequent.

Hello Silvio,
Three interesting photos of this ruined church. I like the angle of the main photo where we see the entrance from the side and the laterally placed arches. You captured the light well and we get a good view of the cracked walls partly covered with moss. The exterior view in the WS is amazing, considering what is found inside.

The textural details of your photograph are remarkable. We can clearly see the differences in the stones, the mud and the plants.

Hello Silvio,
In the WS we can see that it is not easy to enter this church ruin without wet feet or mud shoes.
The moisture has penetrated all the way into the stone.
Good light management in all three pictures. Excellent clarity and sharpness.

What a ruined old church and your exposure control is spot on inviting us to its depth on which i feel there's beauty everywhere if we look more closely. The natural light has picked out every detail of it and the opening lends some indication as to the scale and contrast. Excellent shot
