Hall of the Swans - Palazzo Farnese - Caprarola (VT)

The largest room in the winter apartment, reserved for theatrical performances, is the so-called Swan Room. The room, also known as the theater room, due to its documented use as a space dedicated to the representation of the most famous sixteenth-century comedies, is the largest room in the winter apartment in the Piano dei Prelati. At the center of the vault stands the coat of arms of Cardinal Odoardo Farnese with the sides of swans in flight, Farnesian and grotesque emblems and heraldic feats, inside which in the 16th century stand animals considered exotic, such as the sphinx, the peacock, the turkey and the ostrich.
