Circular Chapel - Palazzo Farnese - Caprarola (VT)

The circular chapel is frescoed with paintings of sacred subjects. In the center of the vault the creation of the world is represented and biblical scenes are depicted in the six surrounding medallions; on the walls the Apostles were drawn inside fake rectangular niches. This room is the first in which the frescoes are by Federico Zuccari who, from September 1566 and for a short time, replaced his newly deceased brother Taddeo. Federico's hand is significantly different from that of Taddeo both for the different use of colors and for a greater filling of the frescoes, for example with plump angels in full Michelangelo style.
Here Federico Zuccari paints once with scenes represented episodes from the Old Testament and on the walls Apostles and Saints in full figure such as Simone, Andrea, Filippo, Bartolomeo, Giuda Taddeo, Giacomo Maggiore.
In addition to the Saints, there is a Piet between San Giovanni Battista and the Marie al Sepolcro.
Among the portraits are "hidden" those of Taddeo Zuccari (Giuda Taddeo) and Vignola (San Giacomo Maggiore)
