Photographer's Note
In the gorge Matka is the Artificial lake Matka, near the capital Skopje. River Treska is the river that fills the lake.
This image shows perfectly the process of the cleaning period. Each 15 years the lake bad is cleaned from the fine-sand fill (mud). The process goes by playing with the level of the water. All the mud from the bottom rises and goes with the flowing water. They lower the water level for 5 meters and because this image is at the beginning of the lake you can only see the river. Deepest point is 35 meters and the length is around 8 km.
