Afternoon on a river, a photo from Zuid Holland, South

Photographer's Note

The photo was taken during an afternoon stroll along the Upper Amstel river, the one that later flows through Amsterdam. The river runs here through a very beautiful and peaceful scenery, a district known as the Green Heart of Holland, a pleasant countryside crossed by a lot of rivers and canals and situated just in the center of a half-circle created by Amsterdam, Rotterdam/The Hague and Utrecht conurbations. I was taking the photos of these flowers on the pier, and was lucky enough to have the rowing boat approaching the scene.

Good composition with a beautiful foreground and the repeating colors at the rower`s shirts.
Excellent POV, good light,contrast and nice colors everywhere.

Hi Alexander,

this is a nice phoot. I see you went for the deep DOF, I think you could have gives this a bit more of an "artisitic" look by going for a shallower DOF, but this works too primarily because of the beauty of the colors. I just wish that boat on the right didnt poike into your frame.

Well, Aleksander, it looks like if I give you two points here it will take you past 1000! Congratulations! And it's a nice shot, too. Great composition, and surely the repetition of the colour in the flowers and the t-shirts is a very happy coincidence? Very good perspective here, especially with those parallel lines of wood, just a pity about that blue boat or whatever it is. Never mind, it's a clever shot. I've enjoyed the privilege of granting you your 100th point!

Ik heb genoten van deze warme zondags, maar ik kan ook genieten van deze zachte foto, de rode bloemen in de voorgrond zorgen voor een mooi contrast tegen dit blauw water, perspectief en diepte zijn perfect weergegeven.
Mooi zomers werk hier!

This is a very whimsical composition. The flowers so colorfull and the boaters repeating the colors. The sahdow of the flowers is cool. There's a definite feeling of vacation in your photo.

It would be better without the blue shape on the right.

A photo of the flowers all by themselves would have been less dynamique. The rowers add balance due to their position and the fact that their shirts are a similar colour to the flowers.

Hi Alexander, interesting artistic composition, I wonder if a shallower DOF (between 4 and 6.3 for instance) would give a better result, anyway interesting and well managed.

A very peaceful shot, I can imagine myself lounging here with a glass of wine watching the boats go by. A lovely composition with great light & colour. Well captured.
