Photographer's Note

The Hoogstraat (High street) leads from the market to the mill (where the last part is called Korte dijk (Short Dyke)). On the left the tower of 'our' church the St. Johannes. The church burned down in the seventies but the tower remained as a landmark.

Typical Dutch street in small towns, Gerrit, with the mill popps up at the far side.
Picture has dynamism and good scale by the people ride and stride along.

This must a fabulous location for photography all of which are colourful and it is the striking green steeple that steals the eyes almost instantly. It's bright and cheerfulness in abundance with human activity lead into the depth. Great composition and seamless exposure control. Congrats

Dag Gerrit I see an intense competition bringing into opposition the bell tower and the distant windmill to be the touristic focal point of this peaceful lovely street!
Each composes with the other a nice visual balance to your capture that was already attractive due to so much depth.

Hello Gerrit, a scene of everyday life, looking along this quite narrow street.
The church spire and then the windmill in the distance are two lovely features.
I guess that cars are not allowed on this street?

Very pleasant Dutch small town view with all those buildings surrounding pedestrian street. And that windmill visible in the background. From this angle it is impossible to guess that only the church tower is left.

U nam een mooi straat beeld o zo Nederlands.
Vergeet niet dat ik valk bij de grens woon, en ook een halve Nederlander ben.
Mijn zoon getrouwd is met een Nederlandse, dus ik kom bijna dagelijks in Nederland.
Heerlijk plaatje met de molen op het einde van de straat

Hallo Gerrit,
Ik moet eerlijk bekennen dat ik Vlaardingen helemaal niet ken, maar het ziet er hier zeer aantrekkelijk uit, dankzij de gevels aan beide kanten van de straat, de kerktoren links en de molen in de verte. Het licht is heel aangenaam.
