Photographer's Note
On the photo you see the old harbour where once fishing boats came on and off because Vlaardingen was the main herring harbor of the Netherlands from the 18th century till WW2. Vlaardingen Harbour is, in itself, a museum that covers the fishing industry. You can learn all about methods of fishing, the type of boats used and see reconstructions of the offices of the trawler owners. It also has a separate room for changing exhibitions. Well worth a visit if you are interested in boats and the sea.

Hello Gerrit,
Your nostalgic return trip to your old home town gave you many photo opportunities. This is a nice view towards the old port with a row of fine buildings in the background. The statue of a man (beating a gong?) is well placed in the foreground. There is also a fine church tower in the background to the right.
Regards,
Gert

Hello Gerrit,
This sounds to have been a wonderfully nostalgic visit for you, with interesting places to revisit and stir your memories.
I like these neat cobbled streets, with repeating uprights to control parking.
The statue is well placed and seems to be accentuated by its link to lamppost.
You have difficult lighting, almost shooting into the light.
If you have a programme, like PS, reducing the contrast, has a very good effect.
Enjoy your day,
Bev :-)

Hello Gerrit, And another nice view. Interesting monument(or rather sculpture) of the man with something in hands. The low building with the small tower on the right side is maybe a fish market.
Kind regards MAlgo

Dag Gerrit,
Goed foto werk, bedankt.
Groeten uit Vlaanderen,

Hi Gerrit
A bright town scene taken on a better day, one that is difficult to ignore is the sculpture perfectly placed at the thirds hooking the eye and into the whole scene. The colours and architecture add up to express a sense of cheery mood while human presence complements this shot beautifully as additional interests. Nice foto work, Congrats
Best regards

Hallo Gerrit,
Mooi overzicht over de oude haven en het gebied eromheen. Wat voor opvalt is het beeld op de voorgrond als ook het kleine torentje aan de rechterkant. Mooi helder licht en aantrekkelijke witte wolken in de lucht.
