Photographer's Note
The blue heron, a common bird here just walking from my house to the polling station yesterday (not even a 10 mins walk) I saw three standing and stalking their prey.
Although today is officially Election Day, (Tue has already provided some interesting facts) the polling station have been opened since Monday to spread the flow of people and to allow the elderly to vote at ease in the first two days.
And why the title; our Prime Minister Mark Rutte is often called Pinocchio by his opponents, and although I didn't vote for him or his party I believe they will be returned to power to lead a 5th coalition, which I will be pleased about. Over this past year of crisis I think he has led the country well, and while there have undoubtedly been mistakes along the way I believe he has done a good job steering the ship.

Hi Elaine
I thought it was a kiwi that is very similar to this little blue heron. Politics really is full of pinocchio everywhere! haha ...
Take care
Conagratulations

Goedemiddag Elaine,
Mooi foto werk, bedankt.
Groeten uit Vlaanderen,
John

Ha! Ha! Elaine, I thought you were referring to the long beak of the heron, by your choice of title.
Is Mark Rutte called Pinocchio because he constantly tells lies?
This is a most beautiful photograph of the heron. The details of its facial features and plumage are so crisp, and all set against a useful blurred b/g!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hi Elaine
An excellent shallow dof and good sharpness on the egret. Lol at the title! Our politicians are no better. Morrison promised $2 Billion Au to replace houses lost in last year's fires, but many people are still living in tents and caravans. Tfs!

Hi Elaine
An excellent macro on election day. Was this bird an official observer to ensure no nonsense?
cheers

Hi Elaine,
Your focus is perfect showing the eye and the beak sharp. And what is surprising is how close your seem to be no matter what is the focal distance.

Hallo Elaine,
Prachtig portret van deze kleine reiger met zijn priemende oog en korte maar puntige snavel. Mooi licht en goede scherpte.

Hello Elane,
Nice view of this grey heron with a long beak.
it is very interesting that our Prime Minister, Morawiecki, is also called Pinocchio - because every time he says anything, he is lying. And he is not leading the country in a good direction. So you are rather lucky. I have seen that Rutte is regularly biking to work. Something impossible in Poland. All move around with a column of guards.
Best regards MAlgo
