Photographer's Note
Colorful fruit stands steal the show in the Funchal Farmers Market but there also other attractions to see there. Black scabbardfish (Aphanopus carbo) is one of the delicacies you can try on Maderia. I missed that opportunity. I suppose I was focused too much on the weather to think about the food. Wikipedia says that people eat 14,000 tonnes of this fish per year!

Hi Mariusz
Can't say I've ever heard of that variety of fish but I'm sure I would have given it a go. Doing it in B&W fits well with the fish name. Good contrast and detail.
cheers

Hello Mariusz, it was difficult to understand the thumbnail so I had to open it up to see what the title referred to.
I like the way that the tails hang down and are silhouetted against the wet floor.
I have never heard of this fish before, it must be good if so much is eaten each year.
I wonder if it is exported?
Black and white served you well.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Mariusz,I always focus on food on every trip, for me it remains the most important thing ... ahaha ... too bad you haven't tasted this fish typical of this area of the Atlantic, the photo is affected by the different light levels however appreciable. Have a nice Sunday and thanks,Luciano

Hello Mariusz,
Somewhere I have a memory that a lot of trout was eaten in Madeira. Or do I only remember what I liked ... ?
It is nice to travel in a country or region where the food is delicious and where you can discover new dishes.
On the other hand, I have also made very nice trips in countries that were by no means a culinary highlight. One of the most beautiful and exciting journeys I've ever taken was in 1988 in Yemen (in that time the Republic of North Yemen), a country where eating wasn't always a pleasure then (carefully worded).
As I said before, you should go back once to Madeira in a more sunny month. Apparently also because of trying out some delicacies.
Unfortunately, travel to Portugal has recently been discouraged again in Belgium.
Best regards, Paul

I remember this fish in the plate, if you remove a side of the grid of spines you will have a whole fish fillet. I liked the idea of B&W enhancing the graphic aspect of the fishes. I liked in special the tails.
take care

Hello Mariusz,
A good photo of this delicacy from Madeira (although I am not much of a fish eater, so I probably wouldn't try it if I visited Madeira). I really like those small tails, they add a great pattern.

Hi Mariusz
Good tonal range and sharpness with excellent graphism where the dark tails of the fish overlap the highlights at the bottom. Tfs!

Hello Mariusz,
Well this is an unusual photograph for you.
This is no postcard, nor full of colours, but it is an interesting shot and from the thumbnail, I had no idea what you were presenting.
There is a sort of pathos, seeing the fish lifeless, in this way and they seem to viewing the many smaller fish, heaped in the b/g.
You definitely should return, not only for better weather but also to taste these fish. (I love fish and sea food!)
Have a lovely day,
Bev :-)

Not my favorite delicacy, Mariusz, never eat such fish...
Anyway, B&W offset the harsh backlight, understandable.
Have a nice new day,
Ike

Hello Mariusz,
I like how you appeal to our imagination: "colorful fruit stands..." with B&W photo of fish stands!
