Photographer's Note
In spite of the rainy weather which we experienced in Monte Palace Tropical Garden, as you see, we could still enjoy lush green vegetation and elegant red Asian style structures. The only missing element was the blue sky.
This photo was taken from the terrace of the Monte Palace:
https://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Europe/Portugal/photo1595942.htm
and below the pagoda you can spot two dogs guarding Buddha statue which you have seen in my previous posts from this garden:
https://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Europe/Portugal/Islands/Madeira/Monte/photo1595720.htm
At the upper edge of the frame there would be a stunning panorama over Funchal, but the sky was washed out and dull, so I decided to keep this part to a minimum.
Because I never mentioned anything about the history of the garden, I decided to paste below something about this place for those of you who are curious.

In the 18th century the English Consul Charles Murray, bought a property south of the church in "Monte" and transformed it into a beautiful estate, then called "Quinta do Prazer" (The Pleasure Estate). Towards the end of the 19th century, some of the wealthiest families of Madeira used to live in fine estates situated on the outskirts of Funchal.
In 1897, Alfredo Guilherme Rodrigues acquired the forenamed estate and, inspired by the palaces that he once saw on the margins of the Rhine River, he built a palace-like residence which was later converted into a Hotel named the "Monte Palace Hotel".
This Hotel was visited by eminent national and foreign people who appreciated and enjoyed this lovely resort with its breathtaking views of Funchal and the natural surroundings.
In 1943, Alfredo Guilherme Rodrigues passed away. Unfortunately his family did not pursue his undertaking, consequently leading to the closing of the hotel which, in the meantime, was taken over by a financial institution, the "Caixa Económia do Funchal".
In 1987, that Financial Institution sold the Monte Palace Hotel to the entrepreneur José Manuel Rodrigues Berardo. This was how the "Monte Palace Madeira" originated.
Since it's acquisition the "Monte Palace Madeira" has been re-established, with both exotic plants native to various countries (Cycads and Protea from South Africa, azaleas from Belgium, heather from Scotland, among others) and indigenous plants from the Madeira forest namely, "Laurissilva", such as ferns, cedars, laurels, Canary Laurels, etc. The garden was also enriched with the introduction of Koi fish into the existing lakes. Two more lakes with a capacity of 300,000 litres of water were also built. These incorporate a sophisticated filtering system and water purifier, without the use of chemicals that ensure a healthy habitat for the fish, which provide an enjoyable display of colours for our visitors.
The garden lanes were adorned with blazonry, squared stones, windows, niches, pagodas, Buddhas, lanterns from different parts of the world and sculptures in natural or cut stone. Walking through the garden, you can admire the renowned ceramic tile collection (dating from 15th - 20th centuries), a panel of 166 terracotta glazed tiles entitled "The adventure of the Portuguese in Japan" and a group of 40 panels portraying the History of Portugal, including the most important events of the kingdoms and the Republics.

A high POV gave excellent contrast from red to green, Mariusz.
The rain had the trtees and the structure a shiny texture, beautiful outcome of the tropical garden on the slope, guess that there is a bit of hiking up and down...
Have a nice new week,
Ike

Pozdrav.
Lep pogled, interesantan i dobar tekst ...
Lepo zeleno drvece i crvena arhitektura, dobro pokazano sa lepim bojama kontrastom i perspektivom.
Lep vrt u Monte Palace i fotografija.
Lepo mesto za setnju i odmor na klupama u hladu krovne konstrukcije sa lepim pogledom na vrt.
Zelim vam lepo popodne, sve najbolje u novoj nedelji koja je pocela.

Witaj Mariusz
A good birds eye view of the Japanese garden. The lush almost tropical vegetation of treeferns wouldn't look out of place in Okinawa, Japans southernmost prefecture. Good colour, lighting and sharpness. Tfs!

Hello Mariusz, an eye catching shot with the Asian inspired building and bridge. I like the composition with the bridge forming a good diagonal across the frame.
The green trees and plants provide a strong contrast.
We get a tiny glimpse of Funchal in the background.
Kind regards, Jean.

I liked the visual effect of the red pavilion against the greens and the shapes of the giant ferns in evidence. very beautiful image despite limitations you had.
sometimes we have no option to escape from bad weather, but some places are easy to get blue sky than others.
take care

Czesc Mariusz
Kiedy byles w Chinach??? ;-)

Hello Mariusz,
Magnificent view from above with a part of Funchal included.
Wonderful strong red-green contrast.
This tropical garden seems to have charmed you.
I'm sure you would enjoy a trip to Japan. Centuries-old tradition alongside super modern. Easy to travel. Safe and very friendly. Excellent food. Less expensive than the UK or some other European countries.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Mariusz
Just reflecting on Japanese gardens that I've seen and the only blue (I think) has been in the sky. The weather meant good even light for you. A good POV over the pavilion.
cheers

Hello Mariusz,
Welcome back! I love the bright red color and the details of the pagoda. It looks lovely in the greenery surrounding it. I wonder if the white town in the upper left could be conveniently eliminated.
Regards,
MT
