Photographer's Note
Madeira Archipelago consists of Madeira, Porto Santo and Ilhas Desertas. Portuguese discoverers arrived first on the very dry Porto Santo. When they later discovered Madeira Island they were very impressed with the presence of trees and lush vegetation. That is why they called it Madeira from the Portuguese word for wood.
The part of the island which you see in this photo is a rocky peninsula called Ponta de Sao Lourenco. It resembles more the landscapes from Porto Santo or Ilhas Desertas than the rest of Madeira. So what you see here is not necessarily representative to the rest of the island.
I have showed you already two photos with this high cliff which you see in the right side of the frame.

There is actually a viewpoint on top of it which I didn抰 visit because the weather was not very inviting.

Witaj Mariusz
Madiera Cake sounds more appetising than Wood Cake! A good elevated pov showing the arid part of the archipelago, with good sharpness and warm cold colour contrasts. Tfs!

Hi Mariusz,
A completely different sight from the other parts of the island, where it was green allover.
The orange prevailing colors of the rocky slopes wonderfully taken under the cloudy sky, mild diffused light and yet - managed a marvelous outcome on the picture.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hello Mariusz,
The yellow, brown and orange colours are really beautiful and also the shapes of the rocks are great. The contrast with the smooth greyish sea and overcast sky is very nice as well. The composition is well-balanced.

Hello Mariusz,
I often find very dry landscapes impressive, with certain deserts being the absolute highlight.
The hike on the Ponta de S鉶 Louren鏾 peninsula has therefore also appealed to me.
The cloudy sky in this photo cannot hide the arid nature of the landscape.
The sparse plant growth looks yellowish brown.
I get the impression that this photo was taken after a long, scorching summer. A bit like some Greek islands look like after summer.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Mariusz
No a single tree in this photo of the "wood" island, just a good photo of a wild and bare area with great rock colour.
cheers

the high peaks of madeira island tear the clouds and permit the rain can go down in the island, porto santo and desertas are so lower to do that and are driest. this part of madeira island isn't so high and this is the reason it is dry. marvelous contrast of the dry landscape and the sea around. a beautiful image,
take care

Hi Mariusz,
You are right, this looks totally different from the rest of Madeira. And it is still very beautiful. There's amazing variation of rusty tones, with very little of anything green.

Hi Mariusz.
Although the island of Madeira is an orchard, the tip of San Lorenzo lacks vegetation, the color of its rocks is very attractive with its varied hues. Here the weather was not blue sky.
Very effective coloring, which highlights the details of the image.
Good management, both of brightness and sharpness.
Very well done. I like.
Enjoy the weekend.
My best wishes for you.

Hello Mariusz,
I like the wild, barren look of this landscape. I wonder if Ilhas Desertas means Desert Island.
Regards,
MT
