Point of Mercy

Here抯 some natural beauty from the Algarve again. It shows the Ponta da Piedade (Point of Mercy), a group of rock formations along the coastline south of the town of Lagos. The yellow-golden cliffs reach to a height of up to 20 metres.

Goedenavond Lars,

Uw foto steekt vol van kleuren, echt een kleuren palet, waar de kunst schilder jaloers zou op zijn.
Ik kijk eveneens naar de details, van de rotsen, heel mooi gefotografeerd.
Het stukje zee komt mooi van pas als contrast.
Prachtig foto werk, bedankt voor het delen.

I remember a special rock in this place in the shape of a woman's shoe.I guess it is there yet. nice upper view of the rocks sculpted by the sea, I remember the long stairs to reach the sea level.

Hallo Lars,
Niet evident om dit natuurlijk bruggetje te bereiken om het over te steken.
Mogelijk is het evenmin toegestaan omwille van gevaar op instorten.
Het lijkt me wel een prachtig rotsendoolhof om nader te ontdekken.
Mooi zicht op het schuimend zeewater onder de natuurlijke boog.
Prachtige goudgele tinten van de door de zon belichte kliffen.

Hello Lars

This is such a unique rock formation in bright yellow colour. You have composed it so well with great depth, excellent pov and light management....The small arch is giving a look of a bridge and also the trunk of an elephant..

Hej Lars,

The natural arch geological feature in the centre provides a good focal point. Looks like a very narrow walking track along the ridge, but quite dangerous if it is windy. Wonderful warm cold colour contrast between the honey coloured cliffs and the blue sea and sky. Tfs!

Hello Lars,

The colours and the textures of these rocky formations look excellent. It's possible to detect where different strata merge.
You have achieved a fine composition by anchoring the f/g and providing a very unexpected spy-hole beneath the rock bridge!

Side light upon the rocks had imposed the carved outlines, gave a good sense of depth while looking towards the sea, Lars.
Superbly rendered the contrast of texture and the different tones.

Hi Lars,
I see you have visited this beautiful place in winter. It is certainly less crowded and may have better light for photography. I have a photo from this point as well

under which I called it a point with no mercy because it was very hot when I was there.
But in winter you had no problem with that.
Portugal is still practically the only country we are formally allowed to go for holidays from UK so there will be invasion of British tourists there especially next week because schools have a half term break then.
Nice subtle light, very different color theme than in my photo.

Hello Lars, the angle of the sun has illuminated the yellow ochre colour of the rocks, as well as showing the very rough texture.
The colour of the sea contrasts beautifully.
