Photographer's Note
Hi TE friends
Today, I decided to post this 'old' picture, from last TE meeting in Lisbon. This place is very famous because has wide views over the Tagus River and famous monuments.
In the WS, You can see the Miradouro of Santa Luzia
The church of Santa Luzia is located in the parish church of Santiago, in Alfama. Near the church is the Santa Luzia belvedere.
This church was built by knights of the Order of Malta, during the reign of Afonso Henriques.
The current building dates from the eighteenth century, was remodeled after the 1755 earthquake.
Laterally, with two tile panels depicting scenes from the Lisbon from the Moors and Square Trade. The design of the church is a Latin cross.
Alfama is the oldest district of Lisbon, spreading on the slope between the Castle of Lisbon and the Tejo river. Its name comes from the Arabic Al-hamma, meaning fountains or baths. It contains many important historical attractions, with many Fado bars and restaurants.
During the times of Moorish domination, Alfama constituted the whole of the city, which later spread to the West (Baixa neighbourhood). Alfama became inhabited by the fishermen and the poor, and its condition as the neighbourhood of the poor continues to this day. The great 1755 Lisbon Earthquake did not destroy the Alfama, which has remained a picturesque labyrinth of narrow streets and small squares. Lately the neighbourhood has been invigorated with the renovation of the old houses and new restaurants where Fado - Portuguese typical melancholy music - can be enjoyed.
Overlooking the Alfama is the mediaeval Castle of São Jorge, royal residence until the early 16th century and now offering the best views of the city. In the slopes of Alfama there are other terraces (miradouros) from which to see the city, like the Miradouro de Santa Luzia, near the church of the same name and over remnants of the Moorish city walls, and the Miradouro das Portas do Sol (Gates of the Sun). Near Miradouro of Santa Luzia is located the Museum of Decorative Arts (Museu de Artes Decorativas), a 17th century mansion with magnificent interiors.
Among the churches of the Alfama are Lisbon Cathedral (12th-14th centuries), the oldest of the city and located to the West of the neighbourhood, the Convent of the Grace (Convento da Graça, 18th century), near the Castle, the mannerist Monastery of São Vicente de Fora (late 16th-18th century), where the Kings of the House of Braganza are buried, and the baroque Church of Santa Engrácia (17th century), now converted into a National Pantheon for important Portuguese personalities
The Miradouro de Santa Luzia is a wide view over Alfama and the river Tejo. The south wall of St. Lucia has two modern panels of tiles, one of Square Trade from before the earthquake and other Christians to attack the castle of São Jorge

Distrai!.

Hi Aires,
I really love the bright colours, it's a vibrant scene and great notes with the photo. Only a couple of niggles small from me; firstly the photo is slightly off balance, it needs to be rotated slightly, and secondly, the photographer in the foreground I find distracting. I suppose they are trivial details mind! :)
All the best

Olà Aires,
this is an absolutely lovable view, wonderful sharpness and colors, good POV. It just seems, that perspective is inverted with vertical lines enlargins on the top part.

This is a great shot of this fine church. The angle of the shot works nicely giving the scene depth. The people add scale and life to the scene. The lighting and colors are great with excellent sharpness and detail.

Nice little church, and warm houses fronts on the left, too bad there's this man right in the middle, plus the waster containers just behind...

Bonjour Aires,
