Photographer's Note
I have already showed this dolmen in a photo I posted a couple of months ago.
I posted another POV in a WS.
Dolmens are the oldest `monuments´ we can find in Western Europe. As far as I know, most or all of them were built at least 5000 years ago and they were tombs, (actually I think that not every archaeologist is fully convinced of that). Those in better shape still preserve the cover stone that make them look a bit like huge mushrooms or tables (the word derives from the antique Breton word that means 'stone table'). I have written some more info on dolmens in the note of my first post featuring one.

Hello Jose,
I'm fascinated by these ancient monuments, I got to visit StoneHenge back in 1971 when you could walk through the stones, quite an amazing experience.
Good shot, perfect composition and POV. Looks like this one is well trodden as well judging by the path around it.
Thought provoking image, thanks for posting.
Cheers

They are indeed fascinating monuments. Thanks to the links you remind us of the previous angles from which you composed this one and they all have something to recommend them. Here the path emerges from the bottom corner and leads the eye round the dolmen. That is a good compositional device to hold our attention within the frame. good work

Jose,
Nice shot of this ancient rock monument. The off center placement of the monument is nice giving the scene a sense of direction. The lighting and colors are fine with excellent sharpness and DOF.

I love seeing this photo and the note on the Dolmens, and indeed happy to see your earliest post (I think with José astride one of the rocks). The note there, along with this one, becomes a virtual education. Five-thousand years is a long time, older than the pyramids, and slightly older than Stonehenge. A recent issue of Archaeology Magazine has a feature story on the oldest temple known on earth, indeed, discovered in Turkey. It invites one to ponder the question "Does God create us?" or "Do we create God?"
Warm regards,
Bulent

HI Jose
That monument is very old (500 years). You have respected the rules of thirds in that picture. I like the soft blue and the green of the herbs in the middle right. Very informative note. Cheers!

Denis!

Olá José,
the circle around it is not complete, that is a bit distracting the well positioned dolmen. I tend to put my hands on your view to change the lens or turn you a bit. Your workshop oens the questions what is straight in this one as it looks like a tilt but I assume it is the natural slope where the road is on. Good sharpness and clarity but that is not astonishing on your captures.

Hello Jose, Alentejo is full of mystery. And those megalithic monuments are one of the most important components of this mysterious atmosphere. I've seen a few of them very near to Evora.
