The first ever view, a photo from Madeira, Islands

Ponta de S鉶 Louren鏾, Cani鏰l.

When you arrive from continental Europe by plane, the first view you have of Madeira is the Ponta de S鉶 Louren鏾. It is characterized by an arid and rocky landscape, which contrasts with the green aspect of the rest of the island. In fact, the area has a specific flora, protected by a nature reserve.

This is the only place on the island where you can admire at the same time the north coast and the south coast. This feature and the landscape of volcanic rocks make it a very popular place to visit.
The south coast of the cape has one of rare sandy beaches of Madeira. This is natural, unlike that of Calheta.

Salut Delphine,
Les diff閞entes nuances de falaises rouge-brun sont vraiment magnifiques, surtout combin閑s avec l'oc閍n bleu. Parfois, les rochers ont m阭e presque une couleur rose.
La p閚insule est certainement une partie tr鑣 sp閏iale de l'頻e verte.
Aussi les photos dans le WS sont superbes.

Indeed I also remember these rocks from my flight to Madeira. And then again from the ferry trip to Porto Santo. Very rough looks and surely interesting place to climb and wonder around.

A breath taking coastalscape with the rock formations as main subject of interest taken from such a good shooting angle revealing the immense depth, detail and perspective all the way through. The rugged coastline with the plunging rocks look imposing. Evidences of eons of erosion are from the rocks which not stand as small islands off the main mass. The contrast with the deep blue sea is alluring. Well done!

This was the first place we visited when we got to Madeira. I love the composition showing the curve of the cliffs and the beautiful blue water. Nice light, colors and sharpness. TFS
