Photographer's Note
Lisbon has so much to offer for photographers. I've been lucky enough to travel here twice in the past few years, I guess I'll end up going a 3rd time with my son at some point too.
Not much really going on here, but I suppose that's the beauty of the scene, its not trying too hard.
These archways are architectural designs all throughout Lisbon, they're easy to find and fun to photograph.
In the WS is a color version with the same location.
Hope you like this one

Hi Craig,
The presence of the persons is animating the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the archay and of the lights. The black and white is giving a good contrast to the picture. Well done, have a nice day.

Hello Craig,
I would think this photo was taken on the Praça do Comércio but I'm not really sure.
Difficult to have a preference for either photo. Both in colour and in black & white they're successful pictures.
Nice succession of arches and columns. Beautiful with the different incidences of the sunlight on the floor.
Best regards, Paul

Hello craig
A beautiful view of this architecture with a combination of visitors. Clarity and lighting done well. Smart choice with black and white is better than the workshop image. Beautiful shot. thank you

Hello Craig,
I am sure painters liked places like this long before there were cameras. These arches, columns, slices of bright light and lamps hanging from the ceiling are graphically beautiful and create fantastic depth. You added to that by having a few persons in the foreground and several more further back. The WS is also a good picture but the main photo shows that this is a lot more about effects than about colours.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Craig, beautiful perspective from Lisbon,i'm not a black and white lover but this composition is perfect to try a solution like that, because there aren't a lot of colors to show as i can see in the WS. Great symmetry, perfect sharpness and exposure, for me it's enough! Have a nice weekend and thanks,Luciano

Hello Craig,
How good to see you posting again and to know that you are considering travelling again but, this time, with a family!
The setting, here, is a photographer's paradise!
There are repeating arches, a central line of lanterns and excellent shadows, all helping the create a fine sense of depth and perspective.
The figures have their own character and impact, as they become part of the story of this setting.
I do like b&w shots but, this time, for me, the colour version wins because of those soft, warm hues.
Have a good w/e,
Bev :-)

Hi Craig,
Fantastic composition with the arches making great repeated motif. The lamps also align nicely with each other. The black and white works very well here. I like tyhe dark silhouettes of people as well and the shades of the external arches.
Yes, I hope to return to Lisbon someday as well,
M

Hello Craig,
A great view down this archway with a great repetition of all those arches, pillars and large lamps, which you placed perfectly in the middle. The people are nicely scattered around the composition as well.

Hello Craig, a perfectly symmetrical composition, and I love the light filtering through the gaps between the columns.
The people nicely spaced throughout the frame, all busy and no-one taking any notice of you.
I like both versions.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Craig.
Wow..... this composition in B&W is truly perfect, I love the sequence of the arches and especially the lanterns, fantastic perspective, the presence of all these people gives a good vital touch, I also like the color version, but i prefer this one.
Sharpness, lighting, and magnificent composition; They are managed perfectly, in this beautiful image.
Nice job. I like very much.
You have a good day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

Hello Craig,
It's good to see you back on TE. :-) This photo just oozes elegance, and I like the choice of B/W as the main post. The arches are lovely, and so is the play of light and shadow on the ground. Those old-fashioned street lamps are the finishing touches for a beautiful scene, too. I hope and your family are doing well. Take care!

Hello Craig,
I would have proudly taken this photo myself: I like the beautiful architecture, the symmetrical composition, the play with lights and shadows and the human presence. And of course the BW composition, which is my soft spot. :)
The place resembles a bit to the Keleti Railway Station, shown on a previous photo of mine: https://www.trekearth.com/gallery/Europe/Hungary/photo1600313.htm
Best Wishes,
Gy
PS: To answer your question under my photos, of course I'm worried about the situation in my neighbourhood. I can only hope that war will come to end as soon as possible and it is not the beginning of WW3.

craig
in colors or in B&W the place is ever special in terms of photography. it is a typical corner of lisbon. I ever visited the city with my family and I never got to know the city as I like, with long time to enjoy it by myself. travel in family can be terrible sometimes;
take care
jorge
