Photographer's Note
Still on a nostalgic mood, here it goes another of my earliest experiments with diapositives. Those more familiarised with the South of Portugal wil certainly recognise the characteristic style of the typical house of Alentejo, a region that back then was popular only among... Alentejanos... and maybe a few refined connoisseurs.
The greenish yellow dominant (much more prominent before PP) was an irritating characteristic of the Orwo films (made in East Germany), that we used much because of its very low price. The Kodak's, Fuji's and others were reserved for special occasions, because they were too expensive to be afforded by our students' purse just for experimenting. That's a problem that that those who begin photographing now don't know; isn't digital wonderful?. I don't remember any more in whose TE gallery I found a reference to Orwo, maybe someone from Poland.
As a 'bonus', I posted two WS's with a 'studio portrait' shot two years later, one in colour and another one in B&W.

The simple composition works well with the pattern of the roof tiles at the top. The blue around the window and door is picked up by the small touches of sky showing. The simplicity and limited colour palette is appealing. I'm enjoying the sharing of your student photos. Why sad to be faithful? It deserves to be celebrated.

Ola Jose, that's a very typical photo from beautiful Alentejo. Despite its simplicity, it is very very lovely, with refreshing with blue colours and sunlight.
Warm regards,

Hi Jose,
I like the sort of muted colour here, it adds an aged effect which I think is quite nice and works well for the subject. I also like the way you have chosen to compose this shot only showing part of the window and the door. A nice simple shot.

Old touch, old style, old light, old colors... It's funny to be able to guess the period with so few details !?
Funny.

Ola Jose,
interesting composition of this facade with the characteristic architectural style of this typical house of Alentejo. The light blue around the door and the ,decorates pleasefully the scene. You must know, that here in Greece, in the county and especially in the islands this colours are the dominant ones.Informative your note too.

Olá José,
what a luck that the old ones can be done digital by scanning. I like the wooden blue and white capture by its textures.

Jose,

Happy New Year Jose -
What really caught my attention, especially in the thumbnail, was the roof line. I like how you have cropped the roof to form a top border to the image. This border has forced my eyes into the image to study the white, blues, and off yellows of the door. The exposure is dead on! Something that must be perfect when using a positive film. For an inexpensive and maybe quality questionable film it has stood up to the test of time. I like the composition for it's simplicity and your judicious cropping, especially on the window. Well done!
Thank you for sharing.
