The Small Square

After three photos of quite different religious building, here抯 one of two of the main squares in the town of Sibiu: Piața Mică (Small Square). The tower at right is the Council Tower (Turnul Sfatului), which is located in between the two squares. It was originally built in the 12th century, but rebuilt multiple times in later centuries. Several examples of the 揈yes of Sibiu�, which are the eyebrow dormers on the roofs of the houses.

Hej Lars,
S� v鋜st litet var ju inte det h鋜 torget, som jag ocks� tyckte mycket om. Jag hade turen att liksom du ha vackert fotov鋎er i Sibiu. Detta 鋜 en detaljrik bild med bra ljus och fina kontraster och de typiska takf鰊stren. Jag undrar om Securitate 鰒ervakade befolkningen fr錸 de vindskamrarna under Ceausescutiden.

in fact these eyes in the roof added a special surrealist aspect to the square. marvelous details of local architecture with this beautiful tower in evidence.

Hello Lars, in the large version we can fully appreciate all the details of this lovely square. I particularly like the 'eyes' on the roofs, they are so distinctive and a lovely feature.
The people add to the scene.

View of the not-so-small square was very well collected, Lars.
White and yellow painted houses with red roof-tiles contrast well against the bright blue sky above.

Hi Lars,
Beautiful square and such a lovely weather which well pronounced the colors. It is so picturesque and eye catching.
I am just thinking about the perspective here. It is always a problem to have a tower near the edge of the frame, it becomes nearly impossible to make it look straight.
I am not sure whether your camera has wide angle. What I usually do in such occasions is I take a wider scene with a wide lens and then trim it. Also some people do prefer the natural perspective. So this is just a thought.
Beautiful reportage and really inviting to visit Romania someday,

That might have been the same tower I went up in to get the last shot I recently posted overlooking Big Plaza/ Square. You had better weather than me so the warm cold color contrasts between red and blue are more pronounced. Tfs!
