Council Tower

This is one end of the Large Square (Piața Mare) in Sibiu and the Council Tower of the city (Turnul Sfatului), which also connects this square with the other one in the city, the Small Square (Piața Mică). The original council tower was built in the 12th century, but rebuilt several times in later centuries as well and it also had different roles. The sculpture in the foreground depicts Gheorghe Lazăr, a Romanian scholar.

Du hade ett vackert ljus p� h鰃er sida och en behaglig skugga 鰒er st鰎re delen av torget. Mannen i svarta kl鋎er fyller ut f鰎grunden perfekt. Jag hade kunnat missa statyn framf鰎 tr鋎et om du inte hade n鋗nt den, men som vanligt 鋜 det en v鋖digt bra exponerad bild.

a beautiful pattern in the ground of the square. the top of the tower has an interesting roof. I liked the personage crossing the scenery too. excellent image.

hello Lars, Nice view of the big square in Sibiu. Nice that there are no cars there. The red shoes of the guy are euecatching. Nice composition and good sharpness But I would correct the perspective. The tower is leaning quite heavily.Also the piece of the building on the left side is disturbing. i like these red roofs.

Hi Lars,
The sculpture itself is a bit lost but I don't mind because I am more interested in architecture and overall view of the town. The light was great to put several attractive elements in the spotlight while covering the rest in the shade. The roofs certainly have extraordinary shapes, I also like the design of the tower.

Hallo Lars,
Prachtig zicht op dit mooie pleintje met de prachtige gebouwen.
Ik was in Sibiu in 2005 en overal in de stad waren renovatiewerken bezig als voorbereiding op het jaar 2007 waarin Sibiu cuturele hoofdstad van Europa werd.
Toen werd me zowat overal het mooie uitzicht belemmerd door de vele werkzaamheden.
Nog eens zovele jaren later ziet alles er nog steeds keurig en netjes uit.
Misschien is het ondertussen wel heel toeristisch geworden ...
