Photographer's Note

Transfagarasan Road (national road 7C) is the best way of crossing the Fagaras Mountains with a car.
After the invasion of Czechoslovakia in 1968, Ceausescu, being afraid of a Soviet invasion, ordered the building of a strategic road, in this way being able to transfer troops and munitions from one side to the other of the Carpathians. The construction of the road took more than 4 years, since March 1970 till 20th September 1974. It was built manly by the army, the human and material costs being enormous. The road, inaugurated by the dictator, uneconomic for goods transportation, is a fascinating tourist route, representing through out summers the most impressive and spectacular ways of crossing the Carpathians.
The road, having 2 lanes, starting from Curtea de Arges, arrives after 30km at the Vidraru Dam, the point toward "The road of the Sky".

this is a very pretty and perfectly composed shot that portrays the road very well ... I am a bit bothered by the overexposure as I tend to underexpose my shots for good saturation of colours ... but besides that it is an excellent shot ... thanks for sharing

I love roads like this! You have framed the road perfectly and the colours are enticing. Looks like I will have to add this place on my list of places to visit! :-)

Hi Daniel, i also was here with some friends last summer and we took a little climb against these mountains towards the lake, think it's a very attractive place.
I used the opportunity to add my photos near this road to your theme.
