Photographer's Note

Manastir Manasija (Resava) je jedan od najznačajnijih spomenika srpske srednjovekovne kulture i najznačajnija građevina koja pripada takozvanoj 凪oravskoj 歬oli�.
Nalazi se na oko 30 kilometara od autoputa Beograd-Ni�, blizu Despotovca.
Manastir je podigao despot Stefan Lazarević, poznat i kao Visoki Stefan, čije se mo歵i,po mi歭jenju nekih stručnjaka, nalaze u ju瀗om delu crkve,ispod bele mermerne ploče.
Gradnja je trajala između 1407. i 1418. godine.
Odmah posle osnivanja, Manasija je postala kulturni centar despotovine.
Njena 凴esavska 歬ola� bila je prepisivačka radionica i bila je izvor pisanih dela i prevoda i posle pada despotovine, kroz ceo 15. i 16. vek.
Manasija kompleks je progla歟n spomenikom kulture od izuzetnog značaja u 1979, a za歵ićen je zakonom Republike Srbije.

Monastery Manasija, also known as Resava, is a Serb Orthodox monastery near Despotovac, Serbia, founded by Despot Stefan Lazarević between 1407. and 1418.
It is one of the most significant monuments of medieval Serbian culture and it belongs to the "Morava school".
Immediately following its foundation, the monastery became the cultural centre of the Serbian Despotate.
Its Resava school was well known for its manuscripts and translations throughout the 15th and 16th centuries, even after the fall of the Despotate to the Ottoman Turks.
Manasija complex was declared Monument of Culture of Exceptional Importance in 1979, and it is protected by Republic of Serbia.

A wonderful composition with the image of this beautiful monastery and that powerful turret.
The brightness is great and I like domes are projected on the turret of the monastery and on that of the trees.

The monastery is taken from a good angle so we can enjoy the view of the facades, the different domes with the crosses and the defense tower next to it.
Very beautiful are the shadows of the domes on the lower part of the defense wall.

Perfect density levels that have given clean whites and solid blacks as well as ideal saturation and wonderful lighting contrasts. Good sharpness and well framed and composed. The pale yellow red facade of the castle contrasts superbly against the blue sky. Tfs.
