Roda u gradu ...

Rode (lat. Ciconiidae) su familija visokih ptica, dugih nogu i vratova, dugog i tvrdog kljuna.
Visina varira od 75 cm (Ciconia abdimii) do 150 cm (africka sjedlarica).
Kljun je takodje uvijek dugacak i jak, ali razlicitog oblika kod razlicitih vrsta.
Perje roda je u crnim i bijelim tonovima, u zavisnosti od vrste.
Rode su teske ptice, sirokog raspona krila. Primjera radi, roda marabu je tezak oko 9 kg i ima raspon krila od 3,2 metra te cini jednu od dviju ptica, pored andskog kondora, koje imaju najsiri raspon krila od svih kopnenih ptica.
Rode snesu tri do pet jaja. Velicina jajeta varira od 5,5 cm (Ciconia abdimii) do 8,5 cm (marabu), a tezina izmedju 58 i 146 g. Oba partnera leze na jajima od 25 do 38 dana i obezbjedjuju hranu za mlade.
Rode su mesozderi, jedu zabe, insekte, gustere, zmije, crve, gliste, male ptice i sisare kao sto su hrcci.

Storks in town ...

Storks (Latin Ciconiidae) are a family of high bird with long legs and necks, long and hard beak.
Height varies from 75 cm (Ciconia abdimii) to 150 cm (African sjedlarica).
The bill is still too long and strong, but different forms in different species.
Stork feathers in black and white tones, depending on the species.
Storks are heavy birds, a wide wingspan. For example, the marabou stork weighs about 9 pounds and has a wingspan of 3.2 meters makes the one of the birds, in addition to Andean condors, which have the widest wingspan of all land birds.
Storks lay three to five eggs. Egg size varies from 5.5 cm (Ciconia abdimii) to 8.5 cm (marabou), a weight between 58 and 146 g. Both partners brood of 25 to 38 days and provide food for the young.
Storks are carnivores, they eat frogs, insects, lizards, snakes, worms, earthworms, small birds and mammals such as hamsters.

good timing with the large stork flying down to land.
at first I thought the tree was the main focal point until i read the note.
as for the note there are lots of interesting bits in there too.

Good Morning Pavle,

Anyone who has tried to take shots of birds in flight will know how difficult this is.
The tree makes a really good initial, focal image, with its branches spreading wide to appraise the incoming bird, which then becomes the main focus, with elegant,outstretched wings and feet down, like an aeroplane landing.

This is wonderful bit of wild life shot with the background serves as good sense of location, credit that your timely shot is spot on as the stork is well caught mid air about to make a landing perhaps. But the tree is a strong element adding into the whole context so smoothly and the way the branches have been made as a natural frame You managed to maintain a good amount of details whilst keeping the exposure right and excellent colour to accompany the well-chosen shooting point. Plain and simple rural scene and lots more to explore in this frame. Great write up as usual, Congrats

a very nice, timely capture of the stork landing on the tree. Sharpness is impressive (in the workshop pictures as well) and the depth has allowed for a very agreeable and comprehensive context. The vertical frame is very effective and stork, tree, field and town have been arranged in it in an excellent way. The moody colours add to the special character of the image. Also in my area see we since a few years storks, we have a big colony in Knokke-Zoute on 15 km of my home.
Also your workshop picture is pleasant to look at.

Interesting picture,storks are more or less extinct here in my part of the world. A very fine capture of the big birg coming in for landing. The bare tree below is a very good part of the composition.

Congratulations on a very fine composition. The stork is magnificent and very well captured as it is going down for landing. The tree fills the foreground in an equally magnificent way and in the lower part we get a fine view with excellent colours of the town. This surely is one of your best photos.

Hello Paja,

...And in many places, storks are also associated with babies and birth. When I was a small child and many things were not so openly discussed as today, parents would say "the stork will bring you a little baby brother" (if your mother was pregnant).

I like this one very much. Birds in flight are not easy subjects, but you got it spot-on.

I enjoyed the workshop image with four different photos, but I think this one is the best.

Hello Pavle,

This is an excellent shot with perfect timing of the bird in the air. I have trouble getting shots like this in focus and using the correct exposure to capture the bird in the frame without blur. You have done this very well!

Hi Paja,
In Turkey we have an old wives' tale: How much travel you will do that summer depends on in what state you see the stork the first time that spring:
If you see it flying, you'll travel a lot.
If you see it walking, you'll travel some.
If you see it stationary (standing or sitting) you'll not travel that summer.
However, we do not have old wives' tales about the last time you see a stork in the summer!

Hello Pavle,

You're capturing well this scene by a good by a good composition and excellent tone/clarity, so it's interesting and impressive to see the white stork which extends wings and is flying in high up in the sky. It's also impressive in lonly tree on the ground, and houses with red roof in back. The stork is a bird in the crisis of extinction in Japan.
