Photographer's Note

Camari馻s is a fishing village known for its bobbin lacework and its natural and environmental wealth, witnessed by the Cape Vil醤 Lighthouse, one of the most emblematic in Galicia.

It occupies a peninsula with two faces, one facing the Atlantic Ocean and the other the calm waters of the estuary that it shares with the neighboring municipality of Mux韆. The place name of Camari馻s comes from the carami馻 shrubby plant (Corema album).

The economy of the municipality depends, to a large extent, on activities related to the sea and the commercialization of catches. Our fishing port is the one with the greatest commercial weight on the Costa da Morte, mainly due to species such as sardines and octopus.

We also have a fishermen's brotherhood, a group of shellfish and barnacle fishermen, as well as one of the most traditional canneries on the Costa da Morte, Grupo Cerdeimar, and octopus, algae and shellfish preparation and processing companies.

Camari馻s is well known for its bobbin lace, a tradition that has passed from generation to generation and that has made this town the capital of lace, a true work of art for those who appreciate the beauty of the pieces and the enormous work what's behind.
