Photographer's Note
‘Olvera - Urban landscape vs agricultural land’
What often strikes me when travelling in other countries is the abrupt transition from built-up areas to agricultural land or nature.
This is also the case in Andalusia.
In Belgium and certainly in the densely populated Flemish part of the country, we often have 'ribbon development' and it is no longer visible where one village ends and another begins.
Here are three pictures with examples of neighbourhoods of Olvera on the edge of the village.
The photos were taken in the square next to the church.

Hello Paul, three lovely shots from an excellent elevated viewpoint.
I am reminded of a patchwork quilt with the many geometrical shapes, and the colours and textures are wonderful.
Lovely!
Thanks for sharing.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hello Paul,
As an old journalist I recognize that the headline of this post is fully anchored in the 'story'. Each photo shows areas that are either urban or rural. No grey zones in this colourful landscape. Every view is stunning and there are mainly a few small details on the ground that make this one qualify for main photo.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Paul,
I see what you mean, but still it is something quite particular for me as well. In Poland the villages or towns end but not as abruptly as you say as here. Here there is a great contrast between extremely densely build town and the open space. I suppose people built so densely in the past for the protection to be inside the town walls. But now it feels a bit obsolete.
Very interesting observation illustrated with three different photos,
Excellent reportage,
M

Hello Paul,
The three photos show how the agriculture was a great factor when building towns back in times on the Andalucia region, as
people were dependent on those vast hilly terrain for theit livelihood.
Excellent outcome from a high POV.
Good evening,

Hi Paul,3 really beautiful photos, and once again they remind me a lot of Tuscany, the houses are different but the hills are a perfect photocopy. Different angles to create this perfect marriage between man and nature in an excellent quality. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hallo Paul,

Hi Paul,
Beautiful high viewpoint view over this town. Hilly landscape looks great and all those roofs make nice patterns. Maybe dense architecture has something to do with keeping houses cooler in hot weather as buildings give shadow to each other.

Hello Paul,
Seeing the town from this POV I can see just how densely-packed the houses are. It's a stark contrast from all the open space. In this part of NY there is no sharp divide; the houses just sprawl out into the suburbs, and it takes a while to get to the truly open space. Nice downward POV and vibrant colors in this scene. Take care!

Hello Paul,
There is some prettiness to the mosaic of rooftops. A marked contrast between the urban and rural areas.

Hello Paul,
A fantastic aerial view of the red tiled roofs abruptly changing to a green pastiche of agricultural fields and farms in the distance. Good sharpness and framing. Tfs!

Hi Paul,
This is a great viewpoint to see the landscape around the town. We see the iconic terracotta roofs, the olive groves and the rugged hills on the horizon - a classic Andalusian scene. Very good sharpness, colours and composition.

Hello Paul.
Superb composition with the beautiful contrast of the roofs of the town forming that puzzle of volumes and the perspective of the fields, where the town ends, these are splendid with their various shades of green mainly due to the olive trees and the dry areas typical of summer, which is being very hard with very high temperatures, in that area now 45º, here in Madrid and downtown area 40º, although I am in the town I feel overwhelmed.
A magnificent color, which gives the image a lot of chromatic richness.
Optimum management of lighting and sharpness, with a good perspective.
Well done. I like it.
Have a good day. Very best regards.
Luis.

Hello Paul,
Wonderful panorama two section of land: urban and agricultural. You must be somewhere high to get this picture. Houses are typical from southern Spain with white buildings covered with yellow shingles but agricultural part they are orchards and vineyards.
Fantastic pov as well as colors, light and sharpness.
Best regards,
Zbigniew
