Photographer's Note
A deer is watching a street on Södermalm island. This graffiti deer is a common sight all over Stockholm, wherever there is a building site or a house is being renovated and there is a protective wooden wall like here.
I first saw a smaller version of the deer maybe 10 years ago, when it started to appear on the back side of traffic signs. I had no idea who put it there, or indeed why, but I always thought it looked nice.
Then from about 3-4 years ago this larger deer has been found at building sites, but it was not until I had taken these photos that I finally made a Google search for it. I learned that it is created by street artist Peter Baranowski (born in 1974) who is mainly active in Stockholm. He has also built a number of funny birdhouses that can be found in unexpected places in parks or along busy streets. They often disappear after a short time, possibly having become collectors' items.
The woman in this photo has of course no connection with the deer. I just waited for someone to be in the right spot to enliven the view and balance the photo. I usually find photos of empty streets rather boring.
On the deer's right ear is a poster calling for a rally against the Russian war in Ukraine.
Two WS photos show a similar deer.

Hello Gert, an original idea to use the same motif in his work around the city; a game of I-spy could be played counting up how many deer seen on a walk!
The main post is a well balanced picture as you waited for the right moment for someone to come along.
The workshop pictures continue the theme very nicely, and as you state, how could someone put their posters over the painting? Maybe it was one way of them being noticed.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hi Gert,
You have captured well the action of the woman withher cell phone. The point of view is showing the details of the graffiti. The light is enhancing the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Gert,
The deer is just beautiful!
How could anyone be so insensitive as to slap a poster right across its head, as if blindfolding it!!
It is interesting to learn that there is a dedicated artist, creating this street art. I imagine he is a budding Banksie and shortly, his art will need to be protected!
You were right to wait for the lady (though I don't need to tell you that!). Though the scene is very interesting in its own right, the lady, intently communicating, adds vibrancy and a sense of narrative.
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hejsan Gert,
very nice picture of this piece of street art. Good capture with that woman and her mobile. But I think the fraing is a bit too large. I have made a WS with a closer crop.
Kind regards

Hello Gert,
It's really bad that the commercial posters in the WS have spared the ugly graffiti.
Not just no decency. Not good taste either.
It's nice that such a deer shows up in many different places in the city. Perhaps one day you will bump into the artist while he is working.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Gert,he is not a very rich artist of ideas apparently, he always leaves the same drawing that I think he could draw with his eyes closed..ehhee..but is really curious, a very strong ecological signal placed in areas that enrich the world of concrete. His work of building small birdhouses is very useful, if they disappear it means that the artist begins to have a certain fame and quotation. Congratulations for the three / four photos of excellent quality as always. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

gert
a beautiful idea to use the animal to hide the ugly area being rebuilt. I liked the use of the personage at side. really the guy who glued the posters in the wall should had used the empty spaces around, there are idiots in any corner.
take care

Hej Gert,
Den malede hjort sørger for at bygningsarbejdet ser lidt mindre irriterende ud end det ellers ville have gjort med bare de der træplader. Det er et fint og velkomponeret billede og den telefonerende kvinde er også godt kommet med.

Dear Gert,
So it seems that historic events come and past, but these deer appear as it was scheduled. :) Anyhow, it is a good composition: I like how you placed the lade at the left 1/3-2/3 border of the image. She seems to be involved into a serious conversation.
Best Wishes,
Gy.

Hello dear Gert
A beautiful view of this famous deer. The presence of a woman has transformed your image from an urban photo into a street symbol, and that's good. I also like photos with people in front of me. You recorded it well. Thanks for sharing

Hello Gert,
I like this type of street scene, with some art, some people, and a bit of grit. The red accents on the scaffolding are nice, too. So, this bunch of deer watch the people of Stockholm... They must have some interesting stories to tell. :-) Take care!

Hello Gert,
I like your 'street instinct' ... nothing goes unnoticed and you make it so interesting and fun.
Like this photo , a construction site with 'ugly' graffiti into something attractive and 'enDEERment'.
I do like the cut and paste Deer portrait , so mobile and quick ... no wonder it has become a common sight.
The woman ... I can see the similarity with the deer esp her hairdo and the deer ears :-)
The WS1 - the deer must be thinking ... am I in Holland? Lovely tulips.
Ha! WS2 ... reminder me of the three monkeys. Hear no evil, See no evil , definitely SPEAK no evil !!!
Tfs ... this soft endearing deer.

Hello Gert,
Now, which one of these is the deer? Juuusssst kidding! Ah, there walks the ubiquitous cell phone. I am surprised the deer hasn't eaten the flowers in Altered Image #1.

Hej Gert
Might sift through my archives and see if I can find a deer I took a shot of in Gamlastan. An excellent street scene and the people provide scale and animate the scene. Tfs!

Hi Gert.
A nice custom to put this charming image of the deer on every ogre, I like the design of it, the girl and the couple animate the scene.
A beautiful composition, with great colors, splendid light and the sharpness is excellent with fine details.
Very well done. I like it
All the best for you. Have a great day.
Luis.
P.S. in the WS photos I love the image of the deer with the flowers.

Hi Gert
I like the idea. It must be exciting to know that when a hoarding appears in a public place it may a few days later get embellished with a picture of a deer. When you look closely at the graffiti you will appreciate what a masterpiece it is. Apart from the more complicated nose and eyes, it is just lines but very well placed in relation to one another.
The lady with a phone is a very good addition and the blue and yellow poster a date stamp on the photo.
Thanks for sharing.
Best wishes
Kasia
