Photographer's Note
This is Oleshky Sands, the Europe’s largest expanse of sand. Although the sands occupied the area of around 1600 km², we could not find them for two days because there was a dense forest around them. The forest prevents enlargement of the sands. All roads thru the forest were sandy except one, which had been built a couple years ago, when a big fire was there. Our bikes wanted to drive only along that road, but it was not on maps. Fortunately, those, who caused the appearing of the sands in XVIII century, helped us to find the road at that time. They were a shepherd with his flock of sheep. After 7 km of pretty good gravel road we were at an observation post of the former Air Force bombing range, where the road and the forest came to the end, but there were a well with good fresh water and a shed, which we had our overnight stop under.

Bonjour Sergiy.
Ce paysage est bien singulier pour l'Europe. J'aime la lumière très douce qui vient donner du relief et faire ressortir les rides formées sur le sable par le vent.
Belle atmosphère de calme !
Amical salut !

Ciao dear Sergiy,
the beautiful warm light gives an almost surreal feeling to this desert terrain that stretches to the horizon. You've captured a wonderful scene where the light and shrpness are protagonists. Congratulations, dear friend!
Ciao, have a nice w.e.!

Hi Sergiy,
Quite frankly, it's not such an attractive photo, but I am glad you posted it because I didn't know about this large piece of land and it seems that it's the first time someone shows it in TE. But I really don't find it a bad photo, besides being effective as documentary, it has a beautiful pinkish light.
Cheers,
José

Hi Sergiy, Interesting to see some sandy desert in Europe, most unexpected. Good low soft lighting confirming many of the best photos are taken early morning or evening when the light is like this. TFS. Murray.
