Photographer's Note
No smileys please. It’s bloody serious for the 44 million Ukrainians.
Once again a people is being bombed and killed. Even by whom they regard as their brother nation …
I took this photo in 2017 at a market in Kiev.
It shows what the real value of that particular individual is estimated.
Now, years later, the beast has completely broken out.
My thoughts go to all the victims of this senseless war that is being fought in so many places.

Hello Paul,
I posted a nice Kiev view today but later remembered I had a poster from Lviv showing Putin like Hitler. But this was much better. This is perfect way to treat the insane dictator.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Paul,
You chose a good photo for the comment on what has happened today.
Do you know the meaning of what is there?
From Wikipedia:
The obscene term хуйло́ is variously transliterated as huilo, huylo, khuilo, khuylo, or xujlo. Its core is хуй (khuy), literally "dick" in both Russian and Ukrainian (and Polish too). In combination with -lo it may be translated as "dickwad", "dickhead" or "prick".
In May 2014, media outlets reported that the Russian profanity khuilo had been added to the Urban Dictionary as a synonym for Vladimir Putin
Sad day for Europe.

Bonsoir Paul,

Hi Paul,a really bad day, our generation was lucky enough to live in a period of peace, I would like Russian soldiers to enter Ukraine embracing local soldiers, eating and dancing together, and sending Putin to hell ... and instead we will still have many new little saints ready for heaven ... thanks for the post.Luciano

Hi Paul
It is amazing that Putin can treat close "relatives" with such disdain and ruthlessness. Flush that toilet paper away!

Salut Paul,

On the contrary, Paul, this deserves a smiley...
Nothing can justify what we see on TV nowadays.

Hi Paul,
Great idea here, I like it. When I visited Lviv I bought couple of these rolls for friends and family as gifts. They still have it. I think they will used it now.
Sadly I didn't take a photo of it.
I still cannot believe this is happening. Somehow it is easier to accept a war which happens in faraway destinations among people of distant cultures, but 21st century Central Europe sounds really unbelievable.

Hello Paul,
The World is getting more and more violent to live.
This war is pure 'Evil' and 'Madness' ... at the moment it's a very tense situation.
To surrender or To keep fighting.
Well, these toilet rolls come very handy ... to shove him where the sun don't shine :-)
I just hope that we all have 'PEACE' not war ... the next few days or weeks.
It's so sad.

"Mooie" foto voor de trieste gelegenheid. Onvoorstelbaar dat oorlog in Europa nog tot de mogelijkheden behoorde. Voor mij is Oekraine onbekend gebied, maar een vriend en collega van me was vlak voor covid nog in deze regio op reis en vertelt 's middags enthousiaste verhalen over hoe tof hij die regio vindt.

I wonder if you took this image in a market stall near St. Andrew's church... I remember things like souvenir banknotes with personages such as TV series' Dr. House (character played by Hugh Laurie). That was in 2010 though, when I revisited in December 2017 the majority of souvenirs were plastic dumbligs (vareniki)...
Just a digression. It's all really shocking and my thoughts go to the Ukrainian people. I also worry about those I personally met, nice and helpful people. Exchanged a couple of emails with an old friend in Lviv, who seemed to be in high spirits (or just pretended). But I can't see how they could, in the wildest dreams, push the much stronger invader back. :-(

Hello Paul,
I must have missed this one. Yes, the Ukrainians' feelings about Putin are very clear.
