慪ellow and blue in Kiev�

Looking for the colours of the Ukrainian flag in my photos I came across this one.
I realise that the yellow of St. Volodymyr抯 Cathedral in Kiev doesn't really correspond to the bright yellow of the flag.
Just a small boost in these days of miserable news about the events in Ukraine.

Convinced that a separation of church and state is important, I hesitated for a moment about using a cathedral to discuss terrible politics. But since politicians are supposed to listen to and respect the wishes of the people and since every religion advocates taking care of the others, it should be possible.

Every time I hear in the news that the Russian army is meeting more opposition than expected, I get a positive feeling.
But then I think back to the almost impossible task for the defense.
Fortunately, the Ukrainians are indestructibly motivated.

I remember this church but I was there on a day with a grey sky...
This is a good gesture, even if you complain that the yellow tone isn't exactly the right one.

Hello Paul,

Every news report and every note makes me feel so proud of the internal determination of the Ukrainian people. But it does not dispel the sense of grief at the unnecessary loss of life! Putin has so much to answer for!
Your brightly coloured church does lift the spirits and is a kind reminder of the blue and yellow of the Ukrainian flag.

It is a stunning colour combination. And architecture of this cathedral is beautiful. Close angle works well. I like yellow and blue frame too.

Hi Paul,
Beautiful church so very impressive. I hope they will leave at least the ancient architecture in peace.
I cannot stop thinking about Ukraine and even at the lunch break with my wife we discussed whether there is something we could do. Being closer in Poland has its benefits because you can directly meet people in need.
I think I will revisit Ukraine maybe also this time go to Kiyv as soon as the war is over. Just to show the support to the tourist businesses.
Beautiful picture so very different from photos which we gat these days...

Another really good post for the occasion and it doesn't matter that the yellow is not exactly The Yellow and that the building is of religious nature.
I have a photo of the same cathedral with blue sky but in winter. Alas, it's on a disc at home.
Also, unfortunately, I have the same worries about Ukrainian defences. The task seems impossible. :-(
