A crew of eight, plus cox, out for training practise on the River Cam.

The River Cam is the main river flowing through Cambridge in eastern England.

My title, 'All together' is the simple fact that when rowing, everyone has to work as a team, each stroke synchronised!

Hello Jean, Charming view of the eight with the helmsman. Maybe they are preparing for the contest? It reminds me of my time at the university, I also used to row in a boat like this. Difficult to believe, but I was light, under 50 kg, and often I was a steer woman :). Attractive also the view of bikers, two of them in red.

I like the symmetrical directions of travel with both the bg cyclists and the canoeists heading right. The canal adds dynamism and perspective. Good sharpness and framing. Tfs!

Hello Jean,
There is a lot of action in this photo. We can almost imagine the speed of the boat. The wake behind it and the reflections in the water are quite important. The cyclists wearing red are good eye-catchers too and they contrast nicely with their green surroundings. You were lucky to have such a good light. The WS is OK, but this is by far the most attractive of the two.

Hello Jean,

I think they will be in training for the 2009 boat race if they were entering the contest at all, for the Oxford/Cambridge Boat Race occurs earlier than your photograph.
The river looks swollen, giving them lots of hard practice if they were preparing for the Thames!

It's a fine shot, giving a sense of rapid movement from the oar waves and the wake. In true competitive style, the bikers are keeping pace with the rowers.

Hi Jean,lucky meeting with this crew of 8 in the river of Cambridge,but i think that this is a common thing there, i know very well the match versus Oxford that i have seen on TV many times...eheh...perfect timing to take the cyclists too and nice opposite view in the WS. Hi Jean,
Very good level of contrast with nice reflection of the sky in the river. The effect is so natural as if we were staring through a window.
One way people on the boat and another on bikes. It seems to be a place where people like to exercise.
Interesting note again. Similarly to Plymouth the Cambridge may have quite a literal translation. This one I knew before but it was an interesting realisation when I noticed that for the first time why learning English.
