Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
If you have ever been to The Lake District, you will probably have been told about, or been to see, Ashness Bridge. It is an old packhorse bridge which straddles Barrow Beck. The beck has had so many visitors over the years that the surrounding stones have been worn smooth.
Our TE group decided that it would be a perfect place for a group of dedicated photographers to hone their skills!
Although a very popular place, we were lucky that not many other people were present when we arrived.
The most obvious way to photograph the bridge was looking downhill, which put the sun at our backs but then, a shifting of the clouds allowed us to photograph up, towards the bridge. This was my preferred view, catching the stream tumbling towards the camera.
It was a steep walk up to Ashness Bridge and my w/s shows the effect that it had on some group members!
Mariusz also posted a shot of Ashness Bridge here but from a different angle.
Have a great day, from a sunny Lancashire, Bev :-)

Hello Bev,
I like the upwards point of view and the framing provided by the foreground rocks, which mimic the stones of the bridge. The image is well exposed to capture the movement in the rushing waters of the stream. Excellent rendering of all that lovely textural detail. The sun is also shining here after a rather dull day yesterday.

Hello Beverley,
Dark tones of the rocks with lavish green and water flowing - all in contrast between, on this beautiful corner in nature.
Nice added the WS with the "gang".

Hello Bev,
I like this view very much. The water comes trickling down the rocks very nicely and we see the bridge well, along with the mountain far behind. The leaves and the grass frame the view perfectly and the clarity and contrasts are excellent. It's always interesting to see the group portraits from these TE meetings, and every time I feel so relieved I no longer bother to carry heavy cameras and bags or rucksacks. ;-)
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Beverley,
You were lucky with the clouds, because this view up towards the bridge is definitely really nice. The rocks and the little stream of water are a charming foreground for the bridge. The overhanging trees are another perfect inclusion in the composition.

Hello Bev,
Ah, fond memories of Saturday! And how nice to include a workshop photograph of our little group - though Mariusz was probably bounding around the bridge like a mountain goat capturing his own images.
You have chosen a perfect viewpoint to capture this iconic and much photographed bridge. I know that the photography wasn't easy because here you are shooting virtually contre jour at this time of day, so you have been wise to include only a tiny sliver of sky. You have managed to cope with the difficult lighting extremely well and your photograph is beautifully and pleasingly composed with lovely light and true colours and amazing details and sharpness.
Beautiful!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hello Bev
It should be fascinating to post a version of a picture of this place of each TE-participant.
I suppose the technical skill are for all the same, but the different artistic view should be very interesting.

Bonjour Beverly
Cela doit être très difficile sur les chevilles de se rendre à cet endroit. Les roches semblent très chambranlantes mais la cascade est jolie. Mais le pont de pierre prend tout de même la vedette. Il est magnifique.

Hello Bev
I seem to remember straying into your frame around the time you were taking this. To look at this you would think there was no one there! It was crawling with strange people!
Good POV - I like the fact that you didn't go for the oft taken shot from just above the bridge where one young lady waited fro what seemed an age whilst we chatted right in the middle of her shot!
Nicely composed.
Mike :)

Hello Bev,
I have waited for such a picture as in Workshop, with the all gang. I imagine what fun you had there. Lovely Ashness bridge. This is the best point of view, and the most classic.

Hello Bev,
A pity that we not can hear the sound of the small waterfall, this is pleasant picture.
Truly a nature picture with the different big stones and old stone bridge.
The clarity is outstanding and the colours brightly attractive.
An excellent panorama view about the area.
Nice composition and good presentation.
Very well done,
Have a nice day,
John.

Hello Bev,
nice the view of this stony place with the Ashness bridge to dominating the scene. The small creek,as penetrating the place adds depth and perspective in the scene. The rich vegetation makes the image even more effective.

Hi Bev,
same place and such a different photograph. I like your POV it is more focused on the bridge itself. I feel like I need to get back there again may be with my daughter at a better weather.
Although we had a lovely day over there.
I was afraid to take photos from this side because of the sky being to white but you have managed to hide the sky very well showing just a tiny bit of it and mainly covered by the vegetation.
Very well thought through foreground, I like also the long exposure which is clearly visible in the water.
Beautiful photograph to be honest it looks so much better than it really was.
Excellent work,

Hi Bev
I have to admit, I was actually looking at your newest photo, and when I read the note about you posted a bridge shot previously...well...i just had to go check it out :)
and to my surprise and delight, there are even some TE members in the WS...gotta love that!
an old Packhorse bridge...i've never heard of that term before. and I love the phrase Barrow Beck.
looking at this bridge, I can easily imagine it being used in film, or movies. It has that charm and rustic elegance to it. I can easily imagine a scene where men riding horses travel across it.
love the pov here with the stones and little water trailing downwards. glad to see the underside of the bridge too, looks great. well done
cheers

Hello Bev,
The ribbon of motion blurred cascading water adds a strong lead in line directing the eye towards the back and the quaint arched stone bridge. Tfs!

Hello Bev,
One of your recent posts had a link to this previous post and I decided to critique this before I forget. I love arches and appreciate the arch that this ancient bridge makes over the babbling brook. I also like your composition.
Regards,
MT
