Photographer's Note
A grey heron patiently waiting to catch a fish?
No, not really - no fish, and this isn't a real heron!
Another piece of art in the grounds of Delamore.
Entitled 'King of the River' by Corrina Barrell.
Made in mixed media.
'Birds and nature are her inspiration, and recently these have evolved into 3D sculptures.
She uses recycled china in a technique called 'pique assiette', (thief of plates), employing the patterns and texture on them to suggest feathers and fur, and her lifelike representations of native birds and animals take life's leftovers on a new journey.'
(Catalogue from the exhibition.)
Two extra shots in the workshop.
Thank you for looking.

Hello Jean,
I had temporarily forgotten about the sculpture park, so I actually thought this was a real heron. I considered you lucky to find it standing so perfectly still. It's a very good work created in a fascinating technique, also clearly visible in the WS. The other WS shows a very nice abstract that you observed well.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Jean,
It is easier to see that it is a work of art in the large version, but the thumbnail really gave the impression it was a real heron. You captured it very well along with that piece of wood it sits on and the silvery reflections of the sun in the water. Well done.

Hello Jean
The straightness and the parallel legs if the heron sculpture are the only subtle clues that this might not be a real heron. The sweeping curve of the pond adds good lead in lines that wrap right around the image. Tfs!

Hello Jean,
In both photos the heron appears to be real.
If there were fish in the water, they would certainly swim away from all safety.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Jean
The heron almost looks real, perhaps a bit well marked. A good well composed photo with the bird looking towards its dinner source.
cheers

the chosen title is the best,,,,
.....waiting....but waiting for what???

too easy to understand its thoughts

Hi Jean,
To be honest when I looked at the miniature I thought this will be a real bird. But of course after opening the larger version it was clear it is continuation of the exhibition. I wonder whether real birds are getting confused by the fake ones, especially that some of them may be territorial.
Very well done,
M

Hello Jean,
Wow ... this is a china grey heron or shall I called it , The Empress of China.
These small pieces of china ... do make a lovely 'everlasting' plumage with its fine and subtle 'shades of blue & white'.
Even there are no fish in the water, this bird seems to be well-fed ... more so, in the WS1 :-)
I do like the WS2 too. It's like a golden shimmering 'fish-scales'. It could be posted as main picture too.
Tfs ... another wonderful art of Delamore.

Hello Jean,
A beautiful Grey Heron sculpture upon the pond, looks real at first sight.
Managed effectively the good light upon, added glittering texture to its "feathers".
The biggest bird in Florida is the Blue Heron, a similar bird - but much larger from this, which pictures I have yet to be posted.
Good afternoon,
Ike

hello Jean,
I missed this one. Nice view of this heron that looks alive but isn't. Great idea to put this sculpture in the water. Another interesting photo from this park with open-air sculptures.
Best regards MAlgo
