Photographer's Note
I have shared pictures of this part of Plymouth with you before, this is just an alternative view.
Sutton Harbour, part of Plymouth's Barbican.
"For much of its earlier history, the settlement here was known as Sutton, (Sutona in 1086, Suttona in 1201) meaning simply South Town.
It was based near Sutton Harbour, the oldest quarter of the modern city."
"Barbican is a fortified gate, and here the name probably derives from the 'Castle Barbican' which was an entrance to Plymouth, the late medieval fortress that guarded access to the Cattewater, prior to the building of the Citadel."
It was from Plymouth Harbour that the Pilgrims left on board the Mayflower and sailed to America in 1620.
These small fishing boats are facing towards the sea, but first they will have to negotiate a lock to leave this more sheltered part of the harbour.
Note the various styles of building in the background, some of these buildings are quite old.
Thanks for looking.

Hello Jean,
I like how this photo combines colourful boats of a timeless design with attractive buildings across the water. I believe I spotted a pub in the white building, which is also nicely reflected in the dark water. It's a nice and well balanced composition.
Best regards,
Gert

Hi Jean,
Two quite beautiful fishing boats in the foreground with complement colours. Old buildings look nice in the background. I wonder how many pubs called The Three Crowns there are in Britain.

Good evening Jean,
The colors of the two boats contrast well against the white and gray building across the water.
Water colors and reflection evident despite the cloudy sky above. Overall a fine composition.
My best regards,
Ike

Hello Jean,
A very charming view of this town and its harbour. The bright blue and yellow boats with also many orange parts look good at left, while the right hand side background looks appealing thanks to the white building of the pub with its red part in the middle.

Hi Jean
Boat harbours are almost always interesting places to poke around, and here is no exception. I like the warm cold colour contrast of the blue and yellow hulls at left. Tfs!

Hi Jean, not the first pic from there as i remember, but surely nice and useful. I like the colors of boats in this grey scenery made by the old facades and the light of this cloudy day, a typical british harbour taken in the usual excellent way! Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano

Hello Jean,
The blue-white and yellow-white bows of the boats moored side by side are a wonderful sight.
The historic buildings at the other side of the quay complete the beautiful picture.
Judging by the facade, I suspect The Three Crowns must be a cozy pub.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Jean,
Similarly to the carousel, these two boats introduce so much life to the scene. Their well saturated colors attract the attention, steal the show.
Very well spotted!
