Photographer's Note
Lying in a wide valley to the south of Princetown, Fox Tor Mires covers an area of roughly 1 square kilometre and is the birth-place of the river Swincombe.
On the edge of Fox Tor Mire high on the open moors of Dartmoor you can find the rather battered remains of this tree.

Hi Leslie
what the heck is this! haha
looks like something out of the Lord of the Rings movie!
the tree appears to be all twisted and beat up.

Hello Leslie,
I had to laugh at your title and wonder how difficult it would be for non-Britons to make sense of it!
It's a wonderful tree!
It has the grotesque presence of a very evil character from fiction, with that toothless snarl, bulbous nose and flying hair! The surrounding, dead debris, helps to maintain this fearsome impression!
A photograph that is sharply exposed and certainly creates mood!
Have a great day,
Bev :-)

Bonjour Leslie,
Si cet arbre pouvait parler, je crois qu'il en aurait long à raconter. On dirait bien qu'il est né à plusieurs reprises. Une très belle étude de textures et de couleurs.
Amicalement

Hello Les,
First I thought it was a tree growing on a rock.
A good picture for a fairytale book or maybe better for a book with scary stories.
Anyway, it has a strange attraction.
Best regards, Paul

Hello Les,
A mummified extra-terrestrial with a tree growing out of its head? No wonder the Dartmoor area has given rise to so many legends and horror stories. Meeting this unawares at dusk could scare the bravest person. It's an amazing piece of nature and another fascinating photo of yours from this area.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Leslie, the ancient tree offers much to the photographer; your depth of field is excellent.
I will have to get the OS map and find this place for myself.
The light is perfect.
Regards Jean.

Hi Leslie!
I agree with Craig, this really seems taken from a movie. So original and fantastic. You captured it very well, with great details. I like all these green tonalities and the light is just perfect. What a great atmosphere!
