Photographer's Note
'A spider's web' but not as you normally see it! This time it is the design of what must be a unique window, I know that I have never seen anything like it anywhere else.
Back to Saffron Walden, and "one of the oldest and most intriguing timber-framed building is this town youth hostel, which dates to at least the 15th Century."
"The original name of the town in North West Essex was simply 'Walden', from the Saxon words for the 'Valley of the Britons'. It gained the prefix 'Saffron' when it became a centre for cultivating crocuses in the medieval period."(www.britainexpress.com)
A closer view in the w/s.
Thanks for looking.

Hello Jean,
I've much windows seen in my life, but indeed never this subject.
I find this lovely to look at, the turning when I look out of an other angle.
Colours and composition are nice to look at.
Very well done, TFS.
Have a nice weekend,
John

Hello Jean,
A great close-up photo of this old, half-timbered house. The pretty worn-off wooden parts are clearly visible and add some nice textures. The round window with the spider's web in the middle looks great as well.

Hello Jean,
I like this window. It's really unusual, but is it genuine 15th century? I would have thought it to be inserted here much later. But if it was truly here from the very beginning, that would make it even more original, wouldn't it? Actually, I like the wooden parts of the wall, and the door, even more. They look so wonderfully worn by time, and there are some very nice patterns on the door. The brick walls are nice too. ;-)
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Jean,
This is very old, in every way!
The wooden frame, the overhanging first floor, the studded doorway they shout Medieval!
This is a fine crop!
The window is quite amazing and, as you say, unique. I have never seen anything like it before! Is the oval frame made of metal or wood? I'm not quite sure! Whichever, the whole window is a skilful piece of craftsmanship!
I wonder if the curtains are closed because the owners are tired of visitors scrutinising the window!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Hello Jean
Lucky they used blue instead of red or the window could have been mistaken for a bloodshot eye! Good textures and sharpness in this wonderful old half timbered house. Tfs!

Hello Jean,
I find the round window rather unusual in this traditional architecture, but I think it fits well.
Also the wooden door on the right is very special.
Good clear and sharp presentation.
Best regards, Paul

Hi Jean.
Sensational capture of this ancient half-timbered house, by the way, it looks very old as it has not been painted, the shape of the window and the door frame with the same carving are really curious.
Good brightness and sharpness management.
Very well done. Love it.
Have a great day.
Very best regards.
Luis.

jean
I presume this window isn't the original one, someone opened a window in the wall or swapped the original for this one. anyway it is a curious design. nice aspect of the tudor house.
take care
