Photographer's Note
Good Morning Everyone,
I'm sure you will have guessed that this is Oxford since this is the city that I have recently visited and, there is no sign of a canal under the bridge.
However, this bridge is often called 'The Bridge of Sighs', like its counterpart in Venice.
But, according to the Internet, this bridge which links together the Old and New Quadrangles of Hertford College, designed by Sir Thomas Jackson, bears a closer resemblance to the Rialto Bridge.
I suppose it isn't really that important, what is important is that it makes an easily recognisable feature in the Oxford landscape and being so close to the Radcliffe Camera (which I posted earlier) is a very frequently photographed building. I had to wait to get a photograph without lots of people walking in front of me and my camera!
This the the common view, with the Radcliffe Camera behind me. I will add a close up of the bridge and a reverse view as workshops.
Thanks for sharing these memories of Oxford, Bev :-)

hello Bev, beautiful picture of the Bridge of Sighs in Oxford. The two Workshops are nice too. It is lovely place and less popular on TE than Radcliff Camera :). But have you realized that you have already posted a very similar picture here? Haha, no problem, this one is better.
I often look at what photos were shown earlier.
When I stayed by Rich after the TE Meeting in Lake District, I went for the whole day to Oxford. I visited many colleges (I am interested in Universities) but as I see, I showed only three photos here.
have a nice day

The famous arch, Venezia style, Beverley, but as many such architecture details we can see around places in Europe.
Exceptional light that brought details in evidence, picture enliven with the people under and through the arch.
Good afternoon,

Hello Bev,
This is a reasonable number of persons to enliven the view. Not even the beautiful bridge would have looked as nice above a totally empty street, but of course you are well aware of that. I agree with Malgo that this version is better than the older one. ;-) The light was so much better here and helped you to a fantastic clarity and very good contrasts.
Kind regards,
Gert

Hello Beverley, the honeyed tones of the buildings look beautiful in the sunshine.
Enough people to enliven the view without distracting our enjoyment of the scene.
There must have been plenty of money available to recreate this 'bridge' here in Oxford. (I feel sure that it must be a copy?)
Three very informative pictures.
Kind regards
Jean

Hello Beverley,
A beautiful view of the streets of Oxford with the Bridge of Sighs so well in the centre. I like the few people in the foreground, they add life to the photo. The sidelight was very pleasant as well.

Hello Bev,
You chose an excellent angle with a lovely through look.
But a colourful image, very nice with the through look, the arch if real eyes catcher.
Lovely composition and nice addition of the people.
Very well done, TFS.
Kindest regards,
John.

Hi Bev,
beautiful presentation of the bridge.
I had several attempts of photographing it but without a success, the light was quite poor when I was there.
I like the main photo with the nice side light and good level of contrast. Also the girl taking a photo of it adds a nice touch, or a bit further the guide is showing something to this group with such a dramatic expression. Most importantly he points towards the bridge.
Excellent work,
M

Hello Bev,
Oops, sorry, I've been absent from TE for a week or two (or three, or four....). But here you've written a fascinating note and treated us to three delightful images of this famous linking bridge. I well remember seeing this while I was taking photos of the Sheldonian Theatre way back at a TE meeting in Oxfordshire in 2012.
All of your three photos are taken in lovely light with perfect exposure, rich colours and excellent detail and sharpness.
Fabulous!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi Bev.In fact you could pass off these photos as they did in Venice, especially the close-up in the WS..hehhe..d really interesting, very reminiscent of the bridge of sighs I know very well, 3 excellent photos and also interesting notes as always, Oxford does not it's Venice but it's definitely worth visiting because it offers a lot like I've seen in your posts. Have a nice evening and thanks,Luciano.

Hello, Bev!
If there was a flood in the city, it would look just like Venice! The architecture is wonderful and you captured its details with perfect light and sharpness! The POV was also very well chosen! Beautiful composition! Well done!

hello Beverley,
It is a beautiful bridge for shure with its stain-glassed windows, although not hanging over a canal. I like the scene in the sun with the woman walking the dog, the tourist making a snapshot and the group and tour guide on the left
Thanks and regards,
Gerrit

Hi Bev
Give global warming long enough and you might have water with gondolas instead of road.
A good photo of this very Ventian looking bridge.
Cheers

Hi Bev
I'm not just saying this to be nice or polite, but Bev, all three shots could easily be main posts. I love all three.
and i'm super impressed with the overall clarity and illumination on them. Easy to see why its referred to as the bridge of sighs. man, you nailed these shots! cheers

Bonjour, chère Bev,
Belles présentations de ce pont reliant les deux édifices.
La qualité architecturale est remarquable.
Je remarque que les touristes ou visiteurs s'intéressent à cet ensemble architectural.
Très bonne journée.

Hello Beverley,
It was clear that this was also a trick question :)
But there's of course a similarity with Venice. Only here no canal under the bridge. :)
Certainly very beautiful architecture, clearly and sharply presented.
The long shadow on the foreground fills well the empty space.
The pictures in the WS are an excellent addition.
Best regards, Paul

this was the link I wanted to find while lost in oxford. I passed in front of it with the guide and when I was coming alone I passed in front of it again and when I tried to find it again I wasn't able and I had no map with me and the locals weren't able to help me. nice this view with some sun, I faced it under the rain.
take care

Hi Beverley,
The presence of the persons is animating the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the bridge. The light is giving nice tints to the colors. Have a nice day.

Hello Bev,
An unexpected sight in a mid sized English town of the Venetian styled bridge. All that is missing is a canal! The people enliven the scene and add a splash of colour. Tfs!

Hello Bev,
Becaude not too long ago I took the same picture and of course I know that this is Oxford, but your title is justified because this English "bridge of sighs" clearly has a Venetian character.
Excellent work
Have a nice day. Groet Rob

Hello Beverley,
If I saw this picture it brought my memory to my hometown Krakow. They have very similar bridge (Museum Czartoryskich) there but this one is more beautiful with the architectural details.
I see from your picture that it is popular tourist attraction.
Very nice picture with great quality of colors, light and sharpness.
Best regards,
Zbigniew
