TOO LATE
When we left the Asmolean Museum it was still raining softly.
Fortunately, the 揅overed Market� with Fifty Quality Independent Shop was not far away.
A great opportunity to photograph some humorous scenes.

Last Sunday was Father's Day and this explains the title of the first photo.
A shop window full of Father's Day pastries but a few days late.
Father's Day does not mean much to me because what good is a father who is only one day a year father.
A father should be there for his children every day. So I am a father 365 days a year (and even 366 once every 4 years), even though both my sons have long since left home.

This gem of artisan craftsmanship reminded me of a specific TE member who is always happy to provide us with additional information.

Here must be a mistake when ordering this otherwise delicious looking cake.
Of course, this should have been marked "Bev and Len".

Hello Rob,
Today's posts are very different from what we are usually given to consume here. They are also very colourful and amusing, and looking at these cakes as works of art they are not much less appealing than anything created by Jeff Koons. I only miss the reflections. Now I will just have to think for a while who that specific TE member could be.

Dag Rob,

Ik ben nogal een zoete bek, en snoep graag maar hou het echt aan de lage kant (gewicht !)
Sorry maar hier zou ik misschien wel even zondigen, de bakker heeft zijn werk goed gedaan.
En natuurlijk wanneer u daar passeert met camera in de hand komt er een hel mooie foto.

I feel sorry for the unsold pastries but at least that gave you an opportunity to take this wonderful colourful photo full of eye-catching details. I could look at this image for hours.
Now I wonder who the specific TE member is. :-)

Dus voor jou: hartelijke gelukwensen met je vaderjaar!
Is de voor ons onbekende zoon ook een reiziger en/of fotograaf? De andere kennen we natuurlijk goed.
Bij het zien van de foto vroeg ik me af welk soort museum je nu gevonden had. Eentje waar het tentoongestelde grotendeels verdwenen is nadat de bezoekers weg zijn.
In Oxford komt bij de wensen aan vader blijkbaar nog steeds overwegend gereedschap in gedachten. Ook voetbal, flessen en zelfs groenten en fruit :)

Hello Rob, all three shots are delightful; someone is very skilful at making and decorating cakes.
In the large version of the main shot we can enjoy all the different extras on top of the small cakes, so we can decide which cake is most apt. The watering can and wellies, the tools, the bottles of beer, what a choice!
Good title.
I agree with you, a father is there 365 days a year!

Het voordeel van geen vaderdag vieren en gewoon het hele jaar vader te zijn is natuurlijk dat je kinderen ook het hele jaar lief voor jou zijn :-) en niet alleen maar 殚n dag in het jaar met gebakjes komen aanzetten, hoe lekker ze er hier ook uit mogen zien en bovendien een heel kleurrijke geheel vormen.

Hello Rob,

Three wonderful photographs of some very artistic and delicious looking confections, a fascinating and thoughtful note - and also a conundrum which I have spent the last 15 minutes unsuccessfully to work out! Who on Earth could she be who gains her inspiration from wizardry and potions and spells?

Maybe someone a lot cleverer than I will solve the mystery.

A very amusing presentation which has definitely raised a smile and also three technically perfect photographs.

Hello Rob, It is the same with Mother's Day or Grandma's day. I am Mom every day although my kids are adult (except when travelling, I do not think what they do). Has Lars celebrated it somehow? You always travel with Lars, what about another son? Very funny display of these small cookies. Are they from n marzipan? Lovely compositions.

Great minds think alike!
I also took photographs inside this market, when we were there, but quite different from your shots!

Three very good photographs, clear and colourful, to reveal the range of cakes on this cake stall.

It's a good one of Malgo but ... they certainly made a mistake on the anniversary cake. Only one name correct! 🤔

You were very alert to spot such details but that's the character of a good photographer.

Hoi Rob,
Did I miss anything here? ooop! , 'Too Late' is it ...So I've another 361 days to go then.
My understanding the cakes were made last year....another 'Too Late' it must have sold out by now.
The good news is you've shown us the lovely creation of cakes as delicious as its looks.
The picture 2: is it the young lady wizard in Harry Potter?
At least you're love all year round by your children even it's not Father's Day - quoted by someone you knew.

Hallo Rob, the picture shows what products are sold in the market. The mini cakes are meticulously decorated. To work on such small surfaces needs concentration and skills. The workshops are also interesting. Fine colors, good sharpness, regards.

while lost and depressive walking in oxford ( I was abandoned there by a bad guide), I saw some pastries in a shop, they were gorgeous visually but these ones are almost pieces of art. amazing this collection with many different kinds. I liked a lot.
