Photographer's Note
End of a Rainy Day in Oxford
Three artistic impressions.
The last uploads I whined in my info about the rainy weather in Oxford and then posted photos that I had taken inside.
Today in the main photo the proof of the rain.
What could be more suitable for this than an impressionistic view through a sprinkling window?
I must confess that at the end of the day the sun also broke through.
This can be seen somewhat in the two photos in the workshop.
Nothing is more suitable to create an impressionistic, artistic presentation of a city than a beautifully mirroring shop window with objects in the shop that characterize the city and a number of interesting reflections of buildings in the windowpane.
I used therefor two shop windows on Broad Street.

Hello Rob,
This shows that there is no reason to give up hope of interesting photos just because it's raining. The water running down the window has had a very nice effect. But is it impressionism? Maybe it's rather some kind of pluvialism, a rarely seen but not unique artistic style. The WS show us entertaining but more common combination of real views and reflections.
Thanks for your comments a short while ago. I had a look at my photos from the solar plant, but they are really too boring and unattractive for this site.
Best regards,
Gert

Hello Rob! A very artistic capture and presentation of the theme. it's like the building is weeping or melting down. Keep on making art with your photos!

Hi Rob,
You have captured well the eefct of the rain on the window. The point of view is showing the details of the reflections. The light is giving nice tints to the colours. Have a nice day.

Hello Rob,
Even when you whined about the rain, the rain did not dither you from what you do best. You seemed you were enjoying it...playing with it and making fun of it till the sun broke through.
This ghostly blurry figuring ( building windows ) seen on the window is quite scary from the so-called impressionistic - very extraterrestrial feel to it.
The WS shots a bit distracting because I would like to see what's in the shop windows. I like the cool Britannia Bear - so cute. Overall, what a brainy artistic shot - real COOL.
Thanks for sharing.

Dag Rob,
Ik heb dit nog nooit geprobeerd om een foto te nemen met een compleet beregend glad.
Ik zou het moeten beschouwen als een schilderij, een beetje *art nouveau*
U heeft steeds vernieuwde ideeën.
Goed gevonden, bedankt.
Groeten uit Vlaanderen,
John.

Hello Rob,
You are my neighbour, today!
Your main photograph seems so full of emotion, tears running down the window pain at the lack of sunshine in such a photographic city! It really does depict the day for you!
I love the w/s as well.
The good thing about reflections is that you always seem to get two for the price of one: the goods inside the window and the building reflections from across the road.
They are very reminiscent of Oxford!
My warm regards,
Bev :-)

Couldn't wait till the rain would stop...? ha ha ... merely my humor, Rob.
Nice idea , the picture looks as an impressionist painter had painted the rain upon the glass.
WS's with reflection also nicely spotted.
Good afternoon,
Ike

Hello Rob, an easily recognisable scene but viewed here it becomes a work of art; the rain softening the lines of the buildings and the windows.
It looks even better in the large version, filling the screen.
I particularly like w/s 3 where the dark panels of the jacket show a lovely reflection of what is behind you.
Excellent presentation.
Kind regards, Jean.

Hallo Rob,
Heel zonde dat de mooie stad Oxford niet de zon kreeg die het verdient. Maar dit is wel een heel mooie en artistieke foto van de door het water vervormde gebouwen.

Hi Rob
you know, these type of shots are just SO good, and for some reason we don't see very many of them, not sure if its a case of photographers just not seeing these scenes/or not thinking about it...but they're so effective. its a great visual.
fun shot, creative way to produce a fine shot on a rainy day.
cheers

Hi Rob
A found abstract! This capture shows its been raining alright, you made great use of the dreary weather with this interesting picture through the window. I think the artist would approve of your imaginative image - a real watercolour! Great Shot and tfs

Hello Rob,
The rain falling outside the window allowed for a great impressionism photo. Many photographers do not leave the house in the rainy days, but looking at your photo it is an example that you can get a great result.
Well done with perfect quality.
Best regards,
Zbigniew
