White-Horse Close, a photo from Edinburgh, Scotland

Photographer's Note

Again, while walking on the Royal-Mile in Edinburgh, looking into the many coves along the street, saw this White-Horse Close, which its description can be read on this link. The place's history goe's back to the 16th century, once was the Royal Mews.

Location off the Royal-Mile: 55.9527, -3.1755 just across the street from the Scottish Parliament modern building.

Took an iPhone picture, as I could not include good POV with my 28-135 lens.

Hello Ike,
There are a lot of black tiles and stones on the ground but the effect of this is quite well outweighed by the light fa鏰des and the pleasant sky. These buildings are quite interesting with many slightly curious details and a pleasant irregularity. Again I have to say that the quality of mobile phone cameras has become amazingly good.

The length of the street is giving depth to the scene. The point of view is showing the details of the houses. There is a good contrast between the colours of the picture. Have a nice day.

Hello Ike, Your composition is very similar to the one in the link. there are so many interesting places when you walk along the Royal Mile. Good picture taken with i-phone, in unfavorable weather conditions.

I like the special moody atmosphere in this beautiful picture. The street is still wet of the rain-shower but you can see at the vanishing clouds that soon the sun will shine again.

This is a charming alley with cute buildings. I like your POV that uses the buildings on the left as the left frame. I find that iPhones take just as nice photos as regular cameras outdoors.

It is hard to imagine that this tranquil place was captured so close to the heart of the city. I like the calm mood of this rainy day, conveyed well by the pale colours and the wet pavement. The composition is very well-considered.

yeah, its a must to walk down the Royal Mile isn't it :)
looking more closely at these pieces of architecture, i'm surprised the builders didn't add more details or windows on the front (the yellow building facing us in the bg) It looks like they forgot to dress up the bottom half of it :)

and I know i say it every time, but i'd love to get a peek on the insides of these.

A very picturesque and also very quiet place to live.
The facades and windows in point shape provide a charming view.
The plants on both sides enhance the rustic feeling.
Pretty soft tones in the sky.

A very original corner, with these houses so particular, with their varied valumenes and steep roofs, seems to be a very quiet area of the city.
Excellent POV, with very good lighting, color and sharpness to enjoy the details.
