Photographer's Note
My first car (in 1971) was an old pale green Morris minor with a fair bit of rust! I came across this rather shiny, well looked after convertible while roaming the lanes of Bishop's Castle in Shropshire in 2008. Morris Minors are British classics first built in 1946 as affordable cars (designed by the Alec Issigonis Team). They were last made in 1971. About 1.3 million were made at Cowley, Oxfordshire.
The car really suited the ambience of Bishop's Castle which is a quiet market town in rural Shropshire, close to the Welsh border. The town is full of lovely coloured buildings and traditional shops as can be seen in the photo.

Hi Ann!
A fine car with beautiful lines. The color matches the houses in the bg.
Also the dress gives a feeling of older days. Maybe a version i n b/?

Hi Ann
This is simple image that works very well, what a coincidence in color and that blue/white blends superbly creating an excellent contrast overall. Such a special feel and nostalgic to me, a classic with 3 gears is rare and this was the car I learned to drive in Singapore in the late 60s. I hardly see this vintage on the road nowadays, this reminds me of my younger days. Great shot Ann and thanks for sharing. Well done.
Best regards

Hi Ann,
A very nice car, it reminds me of the car my father-in-law still drives (he is 90 years old), an MG Magnette from 1958. That is the only car he has ever owned and now it is a real vintage car. However, I think that the colours are the best part of this picture. The red of the car is exactly the same colour as the door behind and a beautiful contrast to the blue door beside. I really do not agree with Stefan here;)
Kind regards
Gunnar

Hello Ann,
The juxtaposition of the red Morris Minor and the red door in the background was auspicious. I had a Morris 1100 in the years '72-'74, but I probably provided as much locomotion to it by pushing than it provided for me. This one is beautifully restored and probably even runs well. Thanks for a trip up memory lane.
Warm regards,
Bulent

Hello Ann,
A timeless photo, for the car as much as the facades and the dress that appears in the window.
This vintage car is absolutely amazing with beautiful curves and details. I also like the red, white and blue colors, evoking the Union Jack.
Very catchy shot.

Hello Ann,
Snap! My first car was one of these too - but not, unfortunately, a rather jaunty soft-top like this one. In 1970 I bought a black 1958 Morris Minor 1000 saloon for the princely sum of £55 but unfortunately later crashed it through a wall on the way to a pathology exam (which, thankfully, I passed) when the front suspension collapsed. You never again have quite the same love affair as the one you have with your first car!
I note that this car actually is of Scottish origin - registered (SL) in Clackmannanshire, I think. It looks good in its fine maroon finish, well-presented outside these interesting and traditional shop fronts. The colours in the photograph are excellent, the backdrop of the row of shops flattering the car. I like the period accessories of "eyebrows" over the headlamps, an addition which was at the time thought to be fashionable but later considered dangerous for pedestrians.
A fine nostalgic shot!
Kind Regards,
John.

Hi Ann!
Great photo! I love the color combinations of the lovely Morris and the beautiful shops behind. It makes for a wonderful composition! Beautiful clarity and perfect coloration. One would not expect to find a similiar scene here in Laos, but here in fact is a photo of mine that at least has some of the same colors, and with a similiar theme: Click Me Or: Click Me
I suspect I am sort of partial to this wine or burgundy color! A very satisfying and attractive photo indeed! Warm regards,
Steve

Hello Ann, Your note & this image has re-kindled my desire to visit the UK again, this time I have a digital camera & hopefully would have some nice images to post on this site. I remember these little beauties, they seem to go for ever, I think every English family in Australia owned at least one ;-))))).
Lovely bit of nostalgia & well captured, beautiful strong colours & good clarity, love the little shops in the BG.
Thanks

Hello Ann,
An excellent composition, full of wonderful nostalgia. I half expect to see Miss Marple coming out of the shop!
The curves of the classic car and the reflections are beautiful.
My uncle once restored an old Morris Minor and later he used it to drive his daughter to her wedding. I don't know what it did for her wedding dress, but the photos of a white wedding dress coming out of a black Morris Minor were amazing.
Best regards,
